Someone commented on here recently that 80% of fans don't understand football - I sense people scoring players at 4/5 - 48 hours after a 'leave everything on the pitch' performance at Elland Road - combined with yet more injuries in a season defining game - which we won as relatively comfortably as is possible with a 1-0 scoreline fall into that category
Completly agree
There was a sports scientist saying that two days after a game is when fatigue hits, so after Sunday, that was a difficult time to play, against a side with an extra day's rest.

Very very lucky to win
Really?

It was as comfortable a 1-0 win as I've seen in ages.

Tarkowski 9
Mee 9*
Pieters 8
Benson 7
Westwood 7
Brownhill 8
Brady 8
Wood 10 - well he's as much a 10 as he is a 4, so this will balance one of those marks out to a 7.

Pope 7. A few saves he’d expect to make, controlled the box aerially
Taylor n/a
Mee 8. Solid as usual, good header for the goal
Tarks 8 never lets you down
Lowton 7 put in a good shift
Pieters. 7 a dependable and solid pro, managers dream having versatile players in the squad
Westwood 7 ran his socks off again
Brownhill 7 continued his good form
Brady 8. Starting to show what he’s capable of
Wood. 6 unlucky with the early header, looked dead on his feet after an hour
Barnes 8 a real menace won us countless free kicks, and could have had an early goal but for a good save

Benson 6 the boy is learning on the job, and it can’t help him playing out of position. Some posters need to cut him some slack

This was a game which the 3 points were far more important than the performance, we dug in second half and kept them out quite comfortably

Some of the s ores and comments on here are are ludicrous. Never once looked like losing the lead and yet we were "completely outplayed" or "lucky to win."

Nonsense. Tactically we had that down and that will a bare bones first 17 (or whatever the number is now.

Good result. Unlucky not to score more first half, had to readjust after an injury to a key player, and all 48 hours after last game against Leeds what do some of you want? Blood?

I'm gobsmacked at some of the comments Chris Wood has received tonight.
Overall he's been a brilliant signing for us, but like every player, he's having a dip in form.
In the first half he'd cushioned a header superbly to set up Barnes and was then denied a goal by a very good save. In the 2nd half we just tried to see the game out.

Let's calm down and enjoy an important win with a patched up side, massive 3pts needed against Fulham next Monday.

Pope 8 (Really had little to do, but did it well and arguably gained us the win with one brilliant second half save)
Lowton 7 (Did really well second half considering he was on a yellow)
Tarks 8
Mee 9* (MOM)
Pieters 8
Westwood 8
Brownhill 8
Brady 5 (Waste of a shirt running about all over the place, apart from one great cross which shows just what he COULD have won!!)
Benson 6 (The lad works really hard and was not in his natural position, but he chased shadows for much of the game)
Barnes 8 (Thought he was good today, but should have buried his golden chance)
Wood 7

How many times have I written this. So,so typical Burnley. Played pretty well first half, got our noses in front and then did bugger all second half bar defend brilliantly and ruin the game as a spectacle. BUT ultimately waltzed off with the points, so up yours PL!!! It's what we do, even (rather worryingly) against teams who haven't won a game all season and are going to be playing in the Championship come February at this rate!! We really should be burying teams like these, but we rarely do and we let them play and invite them on and they are in the game right until the 94th minute as a result!! Anyway, it ALMOST makes up for Leeds, but then again, no it bloody doesn't!!!

Pope - 6 - not a lot to do to score him higher
Lowton - 6
Tarkowski - 8
Mee - 9
Pieters - 6
Brady - 7
Westwood - 7
Brownhill - 7
Benson - 5 - not at the races but I feel for the lad being played out wide which isn't his pisition
Wood - 4 - god awful, even when he had service. An 28 wheeler turns quicker.
Barnes - 6

Hoof ball must stop. Doesn't work.

Quite a few posters have derided some of us for not taking into account the short time lapse between Leeds away and tonights game giving our players time to recover when giving our marks, WBA 0 LEEDS 5 it must just be us that fatigue affects. Really !!

Glad I didn't actually travel or pay to watch that.

Pope. 8
Lowton.7
Tarkowski.8
Mee.8
Pieters.6
Benson.5
Westwood 7
Brownhill.8
Brady.6
Wood.6
Barnes.7

We won't get away with sh1te like that at Fulham, and we're far from strong enough to carry a player as totally ineffectual as Benson.
A willing horse he may be, but right now he contributes little other than James O'Connor-esque running round his patch 5 yards off the pace. His presence simply highlighted the threadbare nature of the squad.
Wood is looking pretty dire anywhere outside the 6 yard box, but has credit in the bank.
Brownhill is looking a real player.

Don’t you even think that the tactics for the game were made with the fact that it was “only” Sheffield utd? We did all that was needed. When you’ve got 3 games in such a close timeframe. Then surely strolling to a comfortable 3 pts is more beneficial to the whole squad. Sheffield utd have only scored 8 goals, I’m sure it was instilled into the defence that if we do what we are good at, they won’t have a sniff, and they didn’t. Yes we could’ve improved our goal difference but that’s not what we did.

Pope - 7 didnt have much to do to be honest
Lowton - 6 coped well
Tarkowski - 8
Mee - 8 MOM
Pieters - 6 assured
Brady - 7
Westwood - 8 I like our midfield right now despite being overrun 2 against 3 or 4 or 5
Brownhill - 8 as above
Benson - 6 out of position, adapted OK
Wood - 6 should have scored in the first half, but held the ball up well when needed... 2nd half instructions tough
Barnes - 7 see above

Pope 7 - excellent handling, vocal, bemusing kicking. Got lucky with Brownhill's clearance off the line?
Lowton 8 - did well on a tactical booking for 45 mins
Tarkowski 8
Mee 8
Pieters 8
Brady 6 - strange player. Has fleeting moments of quality but can put us in trouble with basic errors in bad areas
Brownhill 8
Westwood 7
Benson 5 - has composure but understandably needs more time to develop
Wood 5 - frustrating. another of his off days
Barnes 8 - held it up well and bought free kicks.

Team - 8. Very solid defensively. Shape and understanding of individual roles allows players to cover each other well. Massive 3 points.

I know what you mean but there is no way the tactics were to be overrun and outplayed for 45 minutes especially against Sheffield united. If those were the tactics he’d have had one upfront and Stephens on in centre midfield to start with.

If the tactics were working so well why did he eventually change the formation ?

You are however welcome to your opinion

Pope - 7 nowt to do
Lowton - 6 was ok
Tarkowski - 8 good
Mee - 8 Good
Pieters - 6 miles off Taylor
Brady - 6 busy and nice shot but upgrade needed
Westwood - 6 steady
Brownhill - 6 steady
Benson - 5 seems naive
Wood - 5 one header great save
Barnes - 7 put a right shift in

Awful game beyond words almost . They were woeful but had us on the back foot . We’re ravaged by injury and held out reasonably well though I don’t recall us getting in the box set pieces aside

Pope - 7 some decent stops
Lowton - 6
Tarkowski - 8
Mee - 9* excellent
Pieters - 6 very limited
Brady - 7 assisted from the corner and has ability but frustrating at times
Westwood - 6
Brownhill - 7
Benson - 5 not his fault but not ready for the first XI
Wood - 6 decent set up in opening moment but looked slow and ponderous
Barnes - 7 the perfect game for him, won a good number of free kicks

A truly dire game severely lacking in quality, but a win is a win.

Amazed at the grief Wood is getting. Going through a lean spell, but still the best striker I’ve seen in my time at the club.
Mention for Benson too, who clearly has a long way to go, but I felt he really grew into the game. Also, how important is Pieters to us now in this threadbare squad.

Dyche continues to perform football miracles.

Pope 6 - Handled well but that's his bread and butter and there wasn't much more to help him catch the eye.
Lowton 7 - Getting into some decent crossing positions and starting to find his best form again.
Tarky 7 - Solid enough.
Mee 8 - MOM
Pieters 6 - Proving to be a really useful squad player for us at the moment.
Brady 6 - Has the ability to unlock a defence but would like to see more than flashes of it.
Westwood 7 - High energy. Got away with going down easily today but wasn't that long ago the same thing cost us. Does so much work.
Brownhill 7 - A but sloppy in possession at times but he offers so much to the team. Difficult in a 2 today but enough running in him to power a small country.
Benson 6 - Seems to be dividing opinion. Reality is probably somewhere in the middle ground. Young lad feeling his way in asked to play out of position in a well drilled organised unit. Tough gig and he did the job asked of him by and large. Well done.
Barnes 8 - I thought his hold up play and ability to bring the team up the pitch was excellent today.
Wood 5 - The opposite of Barnes. Not sure how he stayed on. Often brought the ball down well to dither about with it on the deck and lose it cheaply far too often. That's never been his game though and the fact he's not finding the net magnifies these deficiencies. He'll come good again though.

I think it needs pointing out that all but one of Sheffield United's defeats were by one goal, mostly 1-0s. Only Southampton have done better with a 3-0 win.

Not a classic but pleasing win and certainly defense is close to the annoying best it can be, in opposition supporters eyes.

Pope 7
Lowton 7
Tarkowski 7
Mee 8
Pieters 7 - Such a good back up when needed and in two positions, which is very helpful
Benson 6
Westwood 7
Brownhill 7 - For me his best game I have seen
Brady 7 - Best game for quite awhile I thought and more the player I was expecting when we bought him, let's hope he stays fit
Barnes 6
Wood 5 - I can understand why SD persists and doesn't takes Barnes off instead, he really doesn't need his confidence knocking anymore but not sure how long this carries on, but JRod and Vydra not available helps him, certainly getting into some good positions, hopefully will come good soon.

Player ratings off sky sports

, Brady (6), Brownhill (8), Westwood (7), Pieters (6)
, Wood (6), Barnes (6).
