Newcastle v Liverpool
Could do with the scousers winning, that would cap off a decent Christmas.
0-0 10 minutes in.

Re: Newcastle v Liverpool
Liverpool couldn't beat West Brom, Fulham or Brighton. They seem to struggle against teams near the bottom.
It wouldn't surprise me if they bottle it against Newcastle.

Not much happening against a packed Newcastle defense so far.

This is poor from Liverpool, they're a shadow of the team from last season.

Re: Newcastle v Liverpool
Done okay last 10 - couple off the line. I thought Mane was held on the line and could’ve had a pen. Commentary team didn’t pick up it.
Thiago is some player!

Re: Newcastle v Liverpool
Well, what a surprise. I'm shocked it ended a draw and Liverpool didn't win... not.
Re: Newcastle v Liverpool
Who’d have thought Man Utd would have a chance of joint top with their game in hand (albeit against us)

Re: Newcastle v Liverpool
I thought that at first, but Mane didn't complain at all, and I've just seen another angle and the keeper did nothing wrong.
I thought Newcastle were superb. Like watching us at times defensively. Those dropped points for Liverpool will give City some hope. They have a big February. Away against us, then Liverpool, Spurs and Arsenal the next 3

Re: Newcastle v Liverpool
Random stat - Liverpool would have to win every single remaining game to equal last season's points tally of 99.
They currently have 33 points and have 22 games left which = 66 points available.

Re: Newcastle v Liverpool
United must be getting ideas of winning the title after that, Liverpool are definitely not firing on all cylinders this season.
Only 4 points separating the top 4 it could be a thrilling end to the season if this continues.
Good point for Newcastle, but it's worth remembering they're now winless in 5.

Re: Newcastle v Liverpool
Liverpool starting to get the Citeh habit of going into certain types of matches in second gear. Then realising too late they need to up it.
A well deserved point for the Geordies, but don't forget the scousers couldn't beat West Brom last week, as someone else said, no win in 5 for Newcastle, we need to take the positives.

Re: Newcastle v Liverpool
I wonder if because the Liverpool players have now won the title, they've eased off in their individual performances. Some players will think now they've won it, there's no need to push themselves in a game.

Re: Newcastle v Liverpool
I wonder if Liverpool's poor run at the end of last season has spilled over into their erratic form this season, they won the title so easily last time that a downturn was inevitable, fortunately for them the rest of the league is just as or even more erratic.
It's looking like as little as 75-80 points could secure the title this season, and right now any of the top 8 could be considered contenders, I still think Liverpool will just have enough in their locker when it matters, but it's got every chance of going right down to the wire.

Still time for us to pick up the pace and go on a winning streak and win the leaguetiger76 wrote: ↑Thu Dec 31, 2020 12:04 amI wonder if Liverpool's poor run at the end of last season has spilled over into their erratic form this season, they won the title so easily last time that a downturn was inevitable, fortunately for them the rest of the league is just as or even more erratic.

Re: Newcastle v Liverpool
Very few sides play at such a high level like Liverpool did for the past 3 years or so. Levels they were at was incredible. They simply couldn’t keep that going. Same with Sheffield United. The complete lack of a proper pre season behind them has hindered the way they play. Without really strengthening the starting 11 it’s hard to keep going. Especially in Liverpools case. Man City have dropped a little too, but their quest for the Champions League will keep them going and going. Liverpool have had the 2 biggest honours in the past 2 years. The hardest part of management must be to keep your team motivated once they’re on top.
