I’m not into the whole Twitter thing, but I see Alan Pace has an account dedicated to his role at BFC and is already posting.

That’s a good start

It's fair to say that Mike Garlick is worth considerably more than £60M now if his 49% is worth around £90M

Mixed feelings today.
I'm delighted for those who turn up and watch regularly, ST holders in particular.
I genuinely hope this leads to greater things than mere survival in the PL.
Against? I feel we've lost that David vs Goliath thing which for me makes Burnley FC unique.
When we play the ‘big six’ it’s still David v Goliath even with ALK.

Nail on the head! Most football fans (on this board too) do not grasp this.
Or an alternative slant could be is most people grasp it but equally find the points raised to be highly debatable & are completely validated in voicing concerns regarding the future direction, it’s quite a major thing what’s happened & people are well within their rights to be tentative.

obviously some major changes to how the club is now structured in regard to owners.

MSD provided the loan, they will most certainly have guarantees in place that are related to the loan repayment, those will include BFC assets, nothing new here, MSD involved with Southampton/Derby/Sunderland. MSD Holdings UK Ltd is a very new entity, part of MSD Partners out of New York I believe, which all stems from MSD, that comes from Michael Dell and his family wealth from the late 90's. In addition the facilitated a "small" 500MM buy out in part of the Manchester City group.

The unknown for me is how will they pay for first team players now they have acquired the ownership, obvious method is to prove in the training and academy, bringing new players through to sell on for profit, which is more of the VSP/AKL model. BFC have moved into being an investment vehicle with significant debt compared to yesterday, time will tell just how good the investment group is (not MDS because they are on a winner) It appears to be a long-term investment, which is good news.

January will help us understand this area much better.

No need to patronise me, thanks.

I actually agree to a large extent with dandeclaret's post, not least the 'standing still for the last 10 months'. I'm not trying to take that out of context with the rest of his post but if you are standing still then you're likely to be, in reality, falling behind.

Where I perhaps disagree - and I accept neither of us knows the situation just now - is that I would hope ALK do have a clear strategy, aren't going to look to expand too quickly and will take the club forward without taking us down (both in terms of relegation and financially).

I'd imagine they will try and boost our profile in different countries around the world, which will be interesting to see.

I wonder if they'll do things like look to try and bring in some high profile players who are coming to the end of their career to try and boost our profile etc

I know too well what foreign investors can do. I listen to my neighbours every day. These guys seem like crooks! What happened to them investing in Sheffield United? Its all a bit fishy! The F.A need to investigate all of this thoroughly
Bloody hell man, the NEIGHbours have brainwashed you, get out of there while you can, come over to the promised land. UTC

I am not so confident about all this. I just do not see what the next level for Burnley is and what these investors stand to gain in taking us there.

As it stands, we have had success beyond all our expectations this past decade. To get above what we have achieved so far would mean finishing above mid table every season, I guess that means regularly finishing in the top 8 or 6. To achieve finishes like this would mean a massive jump in revenue because the gulf is so great between us and the big clubs. Unfortunately, for a small, unfashionable club like ours there is no way that a halfway shrewd businessman would invest that amount needed to bridge the gap as he knows that the returns will never be as much as he puts in because we will never have the wider appeal of the big clubs. These guys don't love Burnley and so they are not going to throw their money away just to give us success.

The model as it is, is as good as it is ever going to get for a club like ours. We are doing well despite not being financially doped and having a smaller budget than most around us in the league. These new guys know business and will not be inclined to change a going concern. I suspect that the only difference is that have now got people in charge who will asset strip the club if it looks like things are not going to be financially beneficial to them through results.

Sorry to sound so negative especially just before the new year starts. I really hope that I am proven wrong and I will be happy to eat humble pie.

I suspect they will be using same model as the Glaziers.
They will have borrowed £175 million against BFC.
They will be paid handsomely for their efforts.

The club will pay the interest.

But this will only become knowledge as time goes on.

Let’s see, open to see what the future holds.
I think you mean the Glazers and in any case your suspicions are not fact, just your suspicions.

I also highly doubt the Glazers approach would work at Burnley. We might be able to give them a good game on the pitch but as a club they are on another planet commercially
