Penalty stats.
Durning our current stay in the premier league, we have been awarded 10 penalties.
Compare this to Manchester United who have “won” 39 penalties over the same 4.5 seasons
Table of teams in the division same time:
168 games each.
39.. Manchester Utd
36.. Leicester City
35.. Manchester City
32.. Crystal Palace
28.. Liverpool
24.. Chelsea
22.. Arsenal
21.. Spurs
21.. Southampton
20.. Everton
17.. West Ham
10.. Burnley

To b fair we are not a team that has a lot of possession in the opponents penalty area.

Re: Penalty stats.
hard to win pens when most of our final 3rd play involves crosses from deep. Still no excuse for some of the ones we haven't had and for some of the ridiculously soft ones Man Utd have !

Re: Penalty stats.
This table would be far worse since VAR
More than ever it seems ...
You need a goal ?
Instigate contact, fall down, roll around.
Or dangle a leg, step in front to get a tap.
Most important, hold the pose for the cameras.
Tick above so VAR takes a glance / surround Ref.
VAR has a look at the Table, then decides whether to bother.
( Caveat - if you are Man U etc it avoids all reason - Penalty ).

You forgot screeeeeammm like you are dying.
Never ceases to amaze me how many refs are fooled by the instigating contact bit. Roger East, for one.

Re: Penalty stats.
Rather than start a new thread I’ll slide this in here. VAR decisions by club. Doesn’t tell the whole story as we've had a few that didn’t even get to VAR, Newcastle first goal & Ben Mee at Leeds spring to mind.

Re: Penalty stats.
The Crystal Palace stat is the most concerning one for me, especially given how few goals they score. I’m not buying the idea that this is due to Zaha as they’ve had more penalties than Liverpool who must have, what, ten times as many touches in the opposition box as Palace?

Re: Penalty stats.
Inept/corrupt reffing supported in too many cases by inept/corrupt VAR officiating.

Re: Penalty stats.
They haven’t done so bad this season you’ve got 9 goals in 2 games against Leeds & West Brom but equally near as close you’ve got 10 goals at the other end against Liverpool & Aston Villa. Pretty much balancing itself out.Foulthrow wrote: ↑Sat Jan 02, 2021 9:26 amThe Crystal Palace stat is the most concerning one for me, especially given how few goals they score. Re: Penalty stats.
There is a link to an analysis of this seasons controversial decisions, in particular the Pickford foul on Van Dyk.huw.Y.WattfromWare wrote: ↑Sat Jan 02, 2021 8:41 amRather than start a new thread I’ll slide this in here. Pickford was spared a red card because the linesman had raised his flag for offside. Not in the picture on the analysis
