Today's footie 2/1/21
First proper footie thread of the year
Spurs-Leeds the lunchtime game.
And also the small matter of the Old Firm derby, which if Rangers win could effectively seal the league, even this early in January, victory today would push them 19 points clear, and although Celtic have games in hand it would take a massive turnabout in fortunes to haul that back.
Rovers have a trip to St Andrews at 3, hopefully more misery on their travels awaits.

The way Leeds play is tailor made for Jose to sit back and rip them to shreds on the break. Could easily get a similar hammering to the one they got at Old Trafford.

You can bet that if Kane gets shoved in the back by the Leeds keeper the ref will blow for a penalty within a split second after it happens.

I'm loving the Spurs game I wish we could have played Leeds last week instead of Stockley Park United at Elland Road

Re: Today's footie 2/1/21
Commentators saying Leeds are certain to stay up. They are probably correct but quite a few teams can catch them now with their games in hand. Leeds cannot defend to save their lives. Will be interesting if the rot sets in.

Re: Today's footie 2/1/21
Leeds will score enough goals to stay up comfortably. But it does seem like teams have started to figure them out a bit more.

Re: Today's footie 2/1/21
All Leeds will do is throw another £100 million at players and make sure they stay up.
But Bielsa is showing more and more as time goes on, that he's nothing special.

Re: Today's footie 2/1/21
Leeds are, according to many pundits, having a fantastic season.
Had we had a referee last week and beaten them we would now be one point behind them with two games in hand.

Re: Today's footie 2/1/21
Leeds will take the odd drubbing, but they'll also win their fair share, that's why they'll survive relatively easily.
I do wonder how they'll fare next season however, they could do a Sheff Utd in the worst case scenario, as teams get attuned to combating their style.

Sure somebody must’ve asked this before but how the hell can Hereford and Gloucester be in the National League North?

Re: Today's footie 2/1/21
I think it depends on who comes down from the National League. If southern teams come down, then it means the north/south divide line moves down the country, and therefore teams south of the Midlands can find themselves switching from South division to North.Guller Bull wrote: ↑Sat Jan 02, 2021 3:22 pmSure somebody must’ve asked this before but how the hell can Hereford and Gloucester be in the National League North?

On 5live during the game they suggested that Leeds may be flagging and that Carney could be right..ClaretTony wrote: ↑Sat Jan 02, 2021 2:52 pmLeeds are, according to many pundits, having a fantastic season.

Great goal by Eze, but a couple of iffy attempts at a tackle.

Re: Today's footie 2/1/21
So assuming they lose today, and we say 38 points has a decent chance of staying up, Sheffield U will need 36 points from their remaining 21 games.
Their next 6 league games include games vs Spurs, Man U, Man City and Chelsea.
