Getting some mixed memories now from the variety of posts. The Everton tie in 1962 was the one where a photograph was taken from the Beehole End of supporters on the roof of the Kingside. Just a few weeks short of my 10th birthday but my mum wouldn't let me go to this one as a result of the poor reputation of Everton fans. Both teams wore their away kit for that game as they both did for the Wrexham game in '74.
I went to Old Trafford in '65, stood in the Stretford End paddock with a lot of my family. Heartbreaking end to the game made even more so by the fact that I was at school in Salford at the time and so had to put up with some jibes the following Monday. FA Cup was something very special then.
"My mum wouldn't let me go to this one as a result of the poor reputation of Everton fans"

I can relate to that. Once I'd started going to the Turf I was going to every game until the Boxing Day home game against Everton in 1960. This is exactly the reason I wasn't allowed to go to that game.

Best only had one boot on for both of the goals and he was carrying the other boot in his hand. The referee shouldn't have allowed that but of course this was Manchester United and even back then they were preparing for a long period of Fergie time should we have retained the lead.
So it was true after all about Best! I learnt very early in my time watching the Clarets to expect nothing good from my visits to Old Trafford .....and missed last season through having just come out of hospital. :(

Apart from the Derby away game which has been mentioned several times already, the one I will always remember is the 1/4 final at home to Sheffield Wednesday in ‘83.It was an eventful start when several SW fans were in the bee hole end and it all kicked off and when they were escorted back into the away end in front of the longside they were throwing coins into the crowd. As for the game I remember Tommy Cassidy almost getting knocked out when he scored our goal and the Steve Taylor penalty miss which is probably the worst penalty I’ve ever seen taken on the Turf.It was also the biggest crowd I’ve ever been on at home, over 23k

The home 0-0 with Liverpool. Both teams went on to be Champions. Colin Waldron’s wonderful volley could have won it for us. Although we lost 3-0 I enjoyed the replay, we gave them a game.
This is one that sprang immediately into my mind....a packed Turf, Scousers everywhere...brilliant atmosphere. Exciting game and best 0 0 I've ever been to.

I didn't make the replay, but I was only 14.

Sadly I missed Derby loss away in 92.

But of the games I have seen:-
I have to agree with the Sheffield United drawn game and the win at Derby would be right up there. The 1974 semi I try not to think about.....but the games on the way to the semi were special...I missed the 3rd round win at Grimsby but Oldham away 4th round Villa home 5th and Wrexham in the 6th were all special occasions.

Very true - for both goals and, in modern terms, he got the assists on both.

The only thing I've been able to find is a pic at the end of the game showing him still carrying his boot.

That's a great photo. Quite bizarre that Best still had his boot off. Maybe he suffered from chilblains. ;)

Alex Elder coming off talking to his former teammate, John Connelly. I reckon I was somewhere around where the policeman behind the ref was patrolling.

Cup Fever Strikes Once Again
Just a few of the thousands of Clarets' fans who took part in one of the biggest exodus's the town has seen for years on Saturday, 26th January 1974. All 6,500 tickets allocated to Burnley for their fourth round FA Cup-tie against Oldham were sold before the match. The nine special coaches laid on by the club's development association, in conjunction with Central Motors, were also fully booked by last Sunday.

Enjoyed a 2-0 win at Birmingham in 78/9. They were a division higher than us and had most of the play but we scored 2 fantastic goals - Tony Morley in the first minute then Leighton James at the death. Argentinian international Alberto Tarantini was playing for Birmingham and I can still remember Clarets fans chanting 'you can stick your Tarantino up your arse'

My favourite(s) would probably be the Derby trilogy in January 1992.

18 year old me in the first game at the Turf, watching Derby with some real legends at the time in their team Shilton, Wright and of course Ted McMinn. A thrilling 2-2 at the Turf as we gave everything a splendid Eli goal think the other was Steve Harper.

The first replay and getting beaten 2-0 and the fog rolling, singing "We Want More Fog", Derby fans celebrating fake goals.

The second replay and again 2-0 this time no fog and no escaping defeat, but the relentless chant of "Jimmy Mullen's Claret and Blue Army" the din, the constant chant over and over. Seemed like a pivotal point for our subsequent promotion in May, Jimmy Mullen said as much, and of course the article in The Sun by John Sadler and the shear awe he found in our support that day. PURE MAGIC.

Not a Burnley game but I was in attendance for village side Histon 1 vs 0 Leeds United.

Perhaps the most memorable Burnley game was away vs Derby in the FA Cup replay following the game that was fogged off in 1992. Shilton in the nets for Derby with Tinman on the wing.

It wasn't a great game, the Wrexham one, if we're honest. We won it late on with a shanked Casper shot but there wasn't too much football played by either side.

Plenty to choose from. I go for a Match at Bramall Lane but not the one others have chosen. 1962 on the way to Wembley. We won 1-0.in the sixth round. In those days there was a crowd on only three sides as Yorkshire also played cricket there!!
Others : 9-0 v New Brighton with a Jimmy Mac hat trick in fourth Rd. We had won 7-0 in the third round. 1956.
Also the two replays at Derby such fantastic Burnley support.

Derby away in 99 by some distance - first really "unexpected" win I can remember. Great day.

The Liverpool one with the Traore own goal deserves a mention though
I'd go with that Derby game too. Big away following, beating a PL team but more importantly, I think it created some real belief in that team.

After a couple of grim seasons things were looking positive again.

Shrewsbury away (replay) which was the game prior to the fantastic Sheffield Utd 2-2 draw always pops into my mind. Deary sent off, 1-0 down and only minutes left on the clock. Enter Pender and Conroy for an utterly dramatic late, late win. Brilliant stuff.

The Sunderland replay at Roker Park in 78/9 was a bit special. We were very much 2nd favourites but played really well and were 2 up in no time. I went by train from Manchester and got on just before kick off. The popular side was packed but by the time Kindon put us 3-0 up I was practically stood on my own. Unfortunately we then had to go to Anfield 2 days later.

No it was 0-0. Dusty's screamer was in the 3-1 win in 1961/2.

Oldham away in 1974. a great atmosphere, even though we'd been sold tickets for the Oldham end, presumably by mistake.

Taffy ran riot from the first minute and we ran out 4-1 winners.
Saw several sections of the fencing ' opened ' by enthusiastic Clarets who fancied a freebie game. :D

I was on the Wrexham game in '74 along with 36,000+ others. You're dead right the atmosphere was electric and my mum was actually inside M&S at the bottom of St James St when Casper's deflected shot went in and she said she could hear the roar and the whole store came to a stand still.

The Sheffield United game really had everything great about an FA Cup tie. Sleeping giant on its way back up against top flight opposition; freezing cold, almost unplayable pitch; 3pm kick off but felt like it went dark about 2pm with mist in the air; huge, loud away following at a proper football ground; underdog going ahead; 2 sendings off and a heartbreaking equaliser. There was nothing like the FA Cup.

I think the Sheff United away one just about gets it for me.
I doubt that game would be played these days - it was freezing and the terraces were like ice rinks. We played really well - they stuffed us in the replay.

Derby away was brilliant to be there too.

In terms of getting back to basics honourable mention for Stafford Rangers away. Sat on a wooden bench in stands and sat behind me was the guy doing the local radio commentary. We won too which is always a relief when you are playing non league teams - just remember it being an all round enjoyable day.

One of the worst has to be losing at Telford (under Jimmy Mullen was it ?)…..that was horrendous !

Two more cup ties from the 60's I recall were firstly a re-arranged 4th round tie at home to Leyton Orient on a Tuesday night in 1962. I was 9 years old but allowed to attend with older relatives. I saw it as a formality because 'banana skin' games still didn't exist in my world then. We battered the opposition but just couldn't find the net and then about 15 minutes into the 2nd half they broke away and scored down at the Beehole End( Ronnie Foster, I believe). Incessant attacking from us continued and finally 'Bomber' Harris saved our blushes with a late equaliser. A rude awakening for me that entitlement to a win did not exist.
The second of the ties was again a 4th round game in 1964 v Newport County. Again they were a team I'd only seen in a lower league table. Remember they played in bright yellow shirts( unusual back then) and I'm sure orange shorts. Their fans wore or carried daffodils. I was intrigued. We won the game 2-1 but again it told me that football did go on outside the confines of Turf Moor and the then First division.

One of the worst has to be losing at Telford (under Jimmy Mullen was it ?)…..that was horrendous !
It was Brian Miller as mentioned but I would prefer not to be reminded of this game if at all possible.

Villa's 4-3 win away at Derby in '92 is my personal favourite. Brilliant end to end actioned packed game which had everything including a brilliant Dwight Yorke hat-trick

New material required. Up the Clarets' very own version of Bernard Manning these days.

A young Stan Collymore scored for Burnley in the win at Stafford. Didn't a wall collapse to if memory serves?

He played for Stafford that day - can’t remember whether he scored or not.
I’d forgotten about the wall but rings a bell now.
My main memory is having to listen to the radio commentary bloke sat behind me for the whole of the game !

Burnley 6 - 1 Altrincham which from memory I think was played on a Monday evening. Altrincham were the club at the time renowned for collecting league scalps in the Cup and thought they could spring a surprise. Hamilton scored a hat trick ( one a beautiful full length diving header and a 25 yarder for his 3rd ). It's possibly my favourite as I can't recall me seeing Burnley net 6 in a match before that game and Billy boy netting 3
