Yes
Terry Spedding played in goal
Didn’t he work for the Gas company?
Worked for British Gas from leaving school up to 52 when he had a heart attack. Survived and had triple by pass surgery and took redundancy. Trained as a lecturer and worked at Accrington College teaching gas and plumbing. He is 70 now and is still doing part time training with Neville Roscoe at M65.

You will be pleased to hear that he is still as daft as ever. And as someone mentioned earlier, he was good mates with Alan Beecroft through BG. As a kid I always enjoyed when Beeky came to the house. You never knew what you were going to get other than it would be funny, loud and generally outrageous.

Tell him I was the Right Back when we was playing for Colne Legion and say I thank him for introducing me to a lady friend of is one night
He will know who I am when you say that

At 16 years old I played for The Derby Arms - Accy Road - managed by Bubbles ex Hapton Colliery Miners made up most of the team, I think Hapton Valley FC was 1 of their teams too.
Remember playing Stoneyholme Dynamoes & Paak Utd
A centre forward by the nickname of Nobby sticks in my mind as an impressive centre forward for us, I think he was about 38 then.

Red Star under Chas Goodwill for a couple of years

15 years for Coal Clough Casuals

Played with some quality players when I was younger. The two best would be James Murray and Robert Sinclair. Another was Mick Hunt (yes, seriously).

Sunday League had some top teams too.

Just spoken to Terry - he is struggling to put a name to you. Can you stick your initials on here and i will see if he knows you then. He came up with 2 names, Steve Ellis and Steve Taylor. Taylor I know has an offy in Colne and has done for a good 30 years and he doesn't think Ellis is in the US. Were you from Laneshaw Bridge? Surname beginning with C?

Played in Craven League.

Started off with Lothersdale before moving on to Crosshills.

Also played friendly games on a Sunday in Glusburn, alongside Beddie from this messageboard.

Trawden Athletic - guesting for Sam MC their legend manager
Barrowford Celtic (Sunday Morning)
Laneshawbridge Academicals
Commercial
Vale Weavers in Hospital Cup

recently refereed in Craven League and Pendle Sunday League

Anyone remember playing Whitewell Bottom? They had one player who played with his glasses on (and a chunky elasticated band to hold them on 🙂) and another player with only one arm. Both were very good players by the way.

I think the first one is the brother of former Burnley Player Andy Wharton.

I played in Embsay's first ever game, away at Gargrave in 1976-77. We won 2-1 with a late Ian Phillips goal and ended up runners-up to Ilkley. Embsay got promotion the year after and then the year after that and stayed in the Premier League for over 20 years, I think.

Belevedere
Sabden
Clitheroe
Nelson
Penrith
Bashley (fun fact: I filled the gap left when Wade Elliot moved on - it was a step down for them I can assure you)
Fleet Town
United Services Portsmouth

Hung boots up too early at 27 but don't regret it. In my 40's now and can still sprint pain free. A lot of my former team mates on the other hand are carrying all kinds of niggles and problems, which would definitely have been me if I'd have played on....

Following a spell with Bury, including a youth cup quarter final, I have played for, roughly in order;
Satutdays from 15 onwards, Rosegrove youth club, Trinity, Burnley United, Colne Dynamoes, Michelin and then due to shift work I played several games for many teams, from North West Counties down to Burnley Combination.
Sundays, Apex, Parkhead, Ventura, Greenbrook, Stoneyholme and a few appearances for Holden and Hartley and other teams when not working weekends.
I still play now, and run, cycle and hill walk.
Can't beat football though.

That is correct Herts Clarets. I will never forget Terry telling the joke about blowing the candle out.

He had the whole club roaring with laughter. Not a bad keeper Terry.... although I never worked out why someone 6'6" got lobbed.

Seriously, top man and very funny.

I played for them in the late 80s. Richard Holden was taking the lads for training sessions at the time - I think he was playing for Oldham when I stopped playing. Sadly, there's no club there now, as with Gargrave and many others.
