3 pictures of players from I presume the
1920/21 league winners.
The 2 on the left are Len Smelt and George Halley
Anybody any ideas who the player on the right is?

Could be a younger Tommy Boyle.
Maybe the pictures are not all from the same
Year.
There are 3 different shirts.
I just guessed at 1920.

Yes probably not Boyle, he has 2 ears whereas the guy in the mystery photo appears to have only one ;)

It is indeed William Emerson, who signed for us towards the end of the 1921/22 season. He took the No.4 shirt ironically from George Halley (one of the other two Burnley players pictured) and played 44 league games for us. William was signed from our feeder club Glentoran, famous of course for the later signings of Alex Elder and the greatest of them all Jimmy Mac. Emerson returned to Glentoran after two years with us.

I’ve had a look at a few pictures on google
since starting the thread.
The names quoted have led to looking at other
player pictures and Billy Emerson looks the most
likely
