Bowie... Five Years On...Your Favourite Song
David Bowie died five years ago on Sunday.
I'll always revere Queen Bitch as my greatest DB track, (just been on BBC4) feel free to post your favourite.
Remembering a great talent.

Re: Bowie... Five Years On...Your Favourite Song
Would have also been his 74th birthday yesterday (Friday), he passed away two days after his 69th and then we went and beat MK 5-0.
His death meant the loss of a genius.
Favourite? Impossible but I'm going to go for Time which is from the Aladdin Sane album. I'm choosing it because when I saw him live for the first time this is what he opened with.

Or this one, simply because I was there the night he suddenly joined Tina Turner on stage. Absolutely magical.

Re: Bowie... Five Years On...Your Favourite Song
Not my favorite song by any means, but i worked on this video and got to meet my all time hero David Bowie! https://youtu.be/HuhA6EPpBVo
The first album i ever bought was Hunky Dory...... I bought everything else too!
Impossible to pick a favorite song, it depends on what my mood is.
When i'm reminded of his death i like to play this....

Fantastic album.

I honestly can't pick my favourite there were so many. I never saw him live, I imagine for those who did it was something special. I can't believe it's five years. A brilliant artist.

A total genius and a truly unique talent. Ridiculous to have to pick one song ... I can't even pick the best song on The Rise and fall of Ziggy Stardust and could nominate 6 or 7 songs off that one album alone (Soul Love , for instance, is not heard that much but an absolute classic imo) BUT I always love hearing Sound and Vision.
Here is a great live version.

Nothing what goes off topic on this forum beats a Bowie thread, like you say picking one song is impossible, just listened to the Diamond Dogs album, 1984 is a sublime song.Stalbansclaret wrote: ↑Sat Jan 09, 2021 10:05 amA total genius and a truly unique talent. Yes BBC4 was extra good last night. So many great songs from a fantabulous artist
He said he sang his song for Christmas with Bing because his father was a fan of Bing Crosby. Very goid and I wish it had made number 1 this last christmas.

I don't know if that particular line up had a name or what period they were with him but I always think they belt out a great sound.
is it Mike Garson on keyboards still? Love the drumming on this track as well. An all round good sound and the A & E Live by request seems like a great programme.

I found out recently that Changes didn't make the top 40.
Unbelievable when you think how famous that song is.
One of his songs that I like that isn't an obvious choice is Absolute Beginners. It has a great outro too.

The Mark Radcliffe show on 6 this morning has been a fantastic listen for any Bowie fan...lots of reminiscing by many different people and, of course, great music. Strongly recommend listening on catch-up if you have missed it.

A favourite of mine is lesser known. ‘The Buddha of Suburbia’. The entire album is good but the opening and ending track is a fine piece of work.

Wild is the wind. Great song and video. My favourite song and yeah the black and white video i love. Too difficult for tribute singers/bands to try, fortunately. Choosing my favourite album is a lot more difficult, there are 4 or 5 and my favourite keeps changing, but it might be Station to Station.

Thought his cover of Amsterdam was a superb track too - although Jacques Brel wasn't impressed apparently
