Once again though we are talking about referee decisions because we are not taking the chances that come our way. Quite concerning, we need to get these front lads firing again.

Re: Clarets v MKD Match thread
Are you seriously suggesting binning our most successful manager in decades because we're losing an FA Cup tie. I'd like a cup run as well but our priority has to be staying in the PL, and it's not Sean's fault our strikers can't hit a barn door, we've created enough chances to win 2 games in that 1st half, our problem is we are once again not being clinical.Right_winger wrote: ↑Sat Jan 09, 2021 3:52 pmGive Dyche the red card. LOL. Was thinking exactly same thing about Lewington. Looks a bit thick around the chest.Dark Cloud wrote: ↑Sat Jan 09, 2021 3:57 pmIf we could finish we'd be strolling this. Re: Clarets v MKD Match thread
So why Vydra?
Re: Clarets v MKD Match thread
I agree. All for giving players a chance, but Wood is consistently missing guilt edged chances and looks devoid of confidence. Almost carrying him so I'd hook him for Vydra and see what he can do. If he can't get a run out today then he may as well leave this window.claretgimmer wrote: ↑Sat Jan 09, 2021 4:00 pmIs Dyche just going to keep playing Wood till he gets his confidence back or are we going to try and win the game by at least giving Vydra a chance, if he doesn`t come on at the start of the second half then to me it says more about Dyche and his attitude to cup games.

I dont understand this. Fine, if the ref looked and thought Wood fouled him, free kick to MK Dons. But then why did MK Dons not get a goal kick for the Barnes penalty query?

Re: Clarets v MKD Match thread
Our build up has been good, but in front of goal we couldn't hit a cows arse with a banjo.
Strikers have spells, but this has gone on too long. We need players to score for us, try Vyds, try Jay, try the kids for the U23s, but we have to stop persisting with golden chances going begging.
We had an opportunity today, not just to progress, but to get some much needed confidence back into the strikers, and so far we are blowing it.
If it continues second half, I just pray SD doesn't leave it too long to ring the changes. Mumbongo has to be better than this.

Lewington is a drinking buddy of a colleague from work - he likes his ale... so I'm toldDark Cloud wrote: ↑Sat Jan 09, 2021 3:57 pmIf we could finish we'd be strolling this. Re: Clarets v MKD Match thread
There's no foul by Wood is there. Keogh misjudges the flight of the ball, gets underneath it and that's where Wood is. Wood uses his body and makes the turn.
Keogh can only either foul Wood, miss the ball or handle it.
He handles it and is correctly red-carded for denying a goal scoring opportunity.
The most tragic thing about this is that it is possibly the only time Jon Moss has ever called a big decision correctly whilst reffing Burnley and it's been incorrectly overturned by VAR.
When they were talking about bringing in VAR you couldn't ever have imagined how badly implemented it would be.

Unless Vydra has a club lined up? Can only see that as the explanation why he's not playing
Re: Clarets v MKD Match thread
Chris Wood's form has been well below par for a while. He needs dropping and needs to be challenged to get back in the team.

Because if it was handball he'd have to send him off, and he didn't want to. The problem was moss's first decision, only one way out of it.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Sat Jan 09, 2021 3:55 pmI'm baffled.
I was amazed when the red card came out but there is absolutely no doubt that it was a free kick to us. Where on earth does he get a free kick from for them?

Re: Clarets v MKD Match thread
Yes. His speed and movement. He'd put them under so much more pressure higher up the pitch that they'd give the ball away constantly. Easy decision for me. Get him on. Oh, and also the fact he does incredibly well in cup games for usGuller Bull wrote: ↑Sat Jan 09, 2021 4:02 pmWhat is the clamour for Vydra? Have I missed something?

Or the manager realises Wood is a better bet than Vydra that generally we all can seeclaretgimmer wrote: ↑Sat Jan 09, 2021 4:00 pmIs Dyche just going to keep playing Wood till he gets his confidence back or are we going to try and win the game by at least giving Vydra a chance, if he doesn`t come on at the start of the second half then to me it says more about Dyche and his attitude to cup games.
Re: Clarets v MKD Match thread
The only part of the entire decision that was questionable was whether or not it was a red card, it was clearly hand ball. Therefore clearly a free kick to Burnley. Wood did not foul Keogh.
If the ref' didn't think it was a card worthy offense, fine but it's still a free kick to Burnley.
Final decision, free kick to MK Dons. It literally makes no sense at all. That's the point.

Why on earth is that 23 undefeated chant still up on the electronic pitch-side boards? String of games undefeated in the Championship nearly 5 years ago ffs.

Re: Clarets v MKD Match thread
Idea for the second half:
Catch the ball in their box and claim a penalty on a VAR appeal. Somehow.

Re: Clarets v MKD Match thread
what we need to do is allow them some possession and hold our shape and invite them onto us and catch them on the break. Our best opportunities in the first half have come from the counter attack

Re: Clarets v MKD Match thread
Wood has missed a clear goal scoring chance 4 or 5 games in a row now, I appreciate he might be better suited to our system than Vydra, but at some point others have to be given a chance. Doesn't have to be Vydra. There needs to be competition there.
