Cannot believe I'm reading a poster wanting to convert Benson into a RB. Usually players play at least a dozen games or so before the braindead calls come for them to change position because they've spotted something in them in 90 minutes that professional coaches have missed for years.
Brilliant stuff. Better be a fishing attempt.

Nope, and I am sure his long term future will see him drop into that role.ksrclaret wrote: ↑Sat Jan 09, 2021 7:17 pmCannot believe I'm reading a poster wanting to convert Benson into a RB. We all have our opinions.
It’s good practice to blood players in midfield and then drop them into their long term position.
Re: Barnes and Stephens et al
This thread is starting to remind me of one of Ablueclaret's now.
Have we finally solved the mystery of where he went?

Re: Barnes and Stephens et al
Reflects the lack of general investment .......hopefully things will change.....not major gripe but Dyche,s interview for Mk Dons just seemed a tad strange......you,d have thought new employer he’d have been portraying a positive view, enthused, trying to impress........but he was just a bit odd with it.....
I still think he wants off to what he perceives to be a bigger club............might be wrong tho.........
Anyway, as I said not a major gripe, just an observation.......

Agree or not, it’s about debating views.

He hasn’t even been good at that this season. Losing patience with him.

Re: Barnes and Stephens et al
I have no probs with Wood & Barnes starting, it was a sign of intent but fail to see why Wood was not subbed earlier for Vydra. Wood looked totally ineffective, plus we have a big game in a few days v Man Utd
Re: Barnes and Stephens et al
Would be good to see a sense of proportion on this board with games like this. The FA Cup throws up endless 'banana skins' and Burnley have slipped on a good few of them in recent seasons. Lincoln did a job on us in the FA Cup but we still won the Championship in the same season. To write off Wood and Barnes is simply ridiculous. Benson is a young footballer learning his trade ( Isn't this the same Benson who was MOM in the Man City debacle? ) and yet he is being pilloried quite unmercifully on recent match 'Boards' Give him a chance.
Chris Wood will finish this season in double figures, and Ash Barnes won't be far away.

"Oh Billy Ingham, you've done it again" (the bloke behind me, every week in the 70s)...
Now it's my turn:
Barnes AGAIN.
The last three matches LOOKING AT THE KEEPER INSTEAD OF THE GOAL.
He's through on goal, the keeper is off his line, it's the easiest hoof in football to lob the keeper from there.
BASIC stuff.

Stephens. Cost the same as a league 1 or 2 player for good reason. Terrible footballer and a ridiculous panic buy. Let him go.
Re: Barnes and Stephens et al
Stephens was my Man of the Match today.Very neat and tidy. Can see a pass, very good positionally and puts his foot in when needed.

Re: Barnes and Stephens et al
Missed the game today, just managed to catch the shootout. But despite Wood being our best striker, do you not think that Dyche felt that this was a perfect opportunity to try and play him into form and get him on the scoresheet?
Re: Barnes and Stephens et al
If you look around the premier league it’s amazing how many seasoned strikers actually just aren’t doing it this year. Maybe it’s the fans I don’t know, obviously strikers live on the edge and the buzz of scoring.
Werner, Abam, Martial, Liverpool’s front 3, City’s Strikers.

Re: Barnes and Stephens et al
Some absolute nonsense on this thread.
Re: Barnes and Stephens et al
We do need some surgery on the squad but SD has a good record of recognising when players are on the slide and knowing when to let them go. Boyd, Ward, Jones, Vokes and maybe even Scotty fall into that bracket. Scotty would have been useful for another year or so but not on a lengthy contract and, with hindsight, it may have delayed Dwight's emergence had he stayed.randomclaret2 wrote: ↑Sat Jan 09, 2021 7:18 pmWe have a lot of over 30s...too many. 7 in the starting 11 was it ?
