I think he has - I don't think I've ever seen us miss so many good chances as we did today. One from Barnes early (the one-on-one) and the header from Wood were the worst of them I thought. Dyche will always defend his strikers if they are getting into position to score but even he must have despaired today at all that went begging.

The foul on Bardsley was within the added 3 mins wasn’t it?

I thought he might have more of an issue in that it was a “soft” freekick

Might be a reason for this comment-maybe it paves the way for an additional striker in the window

So when he says that we have 4 players who have tested positive, with his team and subs selection today can we be fairly confident that it's Long, Dunne, Brownhill and Westwood?

I personally thought Tarkys was the easiest if the lot 4 yards out just needed a prod.

Brady also had a guilt edge chance too.

Hopefully Dyche can put enough pressure on them, and if nothing changes next time, prove it by dropping 1 if not both of them. They've been poor for a number if games now.

Wood has missed easy headers numerous times this season, already costing us points

Wood is badly out of form, and its so frustrating because we know he can do it ordinarily.
All strikers go through bad patches and SD will indeed put pressure on them, but what we need is some more points on the board when we get back to the PL fixtures.

So maybe an extra body up front is needed.

Maybe he thought playing the two today against `inferior` opposition would give them more chances than they are used to, more or less guaranteeing them a goal apiece....

They have shown today they are spectacularly out of form, so he now has to decide on playing them through it, or changing it thereby showing no-one has a guaranteed starting place. Trouble is, too many of our players HAVE a guaranteed staring place. If it's Salah and Firmino, fair enough play them through it because class is permanent. With Wood and Barnes (both of whom i like) i'm not sure we make enough chances for them to play themselves back into form - that needs goals. I'm not saying get rid, but they need a break, surely that's as clear as the nose on anyone's face.

We’ve possibly got a free hit against Utd. Drop both Barnes and Wood to the bench and have Vydra up top with a five across midfield.

Why should any game, especially at home, be considered a "free hit"
I certainly hope the manager and players don't think of it that way
I somewhat agree with the thoughts of 5 across the middle with 1 up front in away games but:-
1. 4 5 1 is a a tactic we are not used to plus we don't have the players with pace capable of supporting a lone front man
2. We are talking about a manager who does not want to play any system other than 4 4 2
This is a home game for which we should always start on the front foot, putting pressure on the opposition's back line
Wood and Barnes are equally woeful at the moment so would like to see one of them on the bench Tuesday with Jay or Vydra starting
But doubt it will happen

I’m not sure you can say Dyche doesn’t want to play any system other than 4-4-2 , we had that spell when Defour was fit where we changed , and I’d say up until everyone got fit this week we haven’t had as many central midfield players, albeit none as good as Defour on the ball.

Regardless I do think we need to stick to the shape against United and put pressure on them from the front , I would like to see Vydra come in for Either striker and try a new partnership, I’d prefer Jay up top with Wood but he’s unavailable . My worry is with Wood and Vydra that the ball doesn’t stick enough, Barnes will win fouls and hold the ball up better in my opinion. On the flip side Barnes does like to take the ball down and hammer it on as quick as possible a lot of the time which is a huge waste 90% of the time. It’s a dilemma for sure, is Mumbongo going to break through? Who knows? Do we need a new striker? Probably!

Doesn't matter, if he's been a close contact, then he would still have to self-isolate. SD said Long has an ankle injury, so the four who haven't been mentioned as injured are BPF, Dunne, Brownhill and Westwood.

But we need a pacey wide right midfield player more

Cannot see any change to our current set of strikers until summer at the earliest

Based on the raw potential seen yesterday from Mumbongo, more likely to see Vydra leave this month

I believe so. If Woan is positive, Dyche would have to self isolate if that's the case. Even though Woan has had it previously, it doesn't mean he is immune either. He would still have to self isolate if he had been a close contact to a postive case.

Are they continuing with that during the current lockdown? Doing so would impact on their ability to see family, if following the rules, surely?

Our strikers need something.

Confidence

At one time, and not that long ago, Wood would have had two yesterday and so would Barnes.

Perhaps we do need to put more pressure on them, or feed them on raw meat !

If the other strikers can't get a game whilst Wood and Barnes are out of form, then they'll never get a game. Empty words from Dyche as Wood knows he's undroppable.

If Woan is a close contact of someone who has Covid, then Woan has to isolate even though he has already had it. However, a close contact of Woan does not have to isolate because Woan hasn't got Covid.

Only if he has a similar issue with the dozen or so equally soft fouls they go tin the last 20 minutes. Moss seemed to make it his mission to stop play as often as he could.

The foul was within 3 minutes and was immediately followed by one of their men belting the ball up the pitch. The ref is surely always going to allow time for the kick when that happens.
