Squad missing

Post by Burnleyareback2 » Sat Jan 09, 2021 9:06 pm

I’m not turning this into a direct Covid thread, but SD mentions we have a few players out. Assume it could be any of the following Jay, Brownhill, Taylor, Westwood and perhaps McNeil.

Also saw a lot of Steve Stone on the bench today, was that due to the amount of younger players we had today? I don’t recall seeing Woan.

Final note- Gifton Noel Williams is on sky sports news tonight for the UTD game!

Jay was mentioned as injured. Taylor was never going to return.

Westwood and Brownhill

Pretty sure Woans already had it, very unlucky if he’s got it again. Thought I remembered seeing him as well, perhaps not though

Interesting to see Lowton come on and play right midfield (and he scored a cracking pen). It gives SD a new option of Bards at RB and Lowton wide right, if we are down to a depleted squad v Man Utd. Lets face it we will be largely defending. At least Lowton is naturally right footed and can whip in a cross-as opposed to JBG who has to first cut in and then cross with his left. It was good to see Robbie on the left today, who I thought had a decent game

Good call, thought Brady looked great today and Lowton with Bardsley on the right gives us almost the perfect player hard tackling, good crosses and a bit of of speed

Not sure much can be read into Westwood and Brownhill, likely would have been rested regardless with Stephens and Cork both senior players needing minutes.

More noticeable omissions were ones you'd expect to be getting minutes in a game like this that were on the bench against Sheff Utd yet not in the matchday squad yesterday. So BPF, Long and Dunne.

Wouldn't stop him having to isolate if he'd been in contact with someone who had tested positive
