If we've lost players to the virus why can't we postpone the Man U. game?

Surely it's within our rights to get it called off rather than play a weakened team.

Like other sides if we can field 14 first team players we are fine to go ahead. Sheff Utd had a few out against us

Surely Fulham could have done the same, likewise Man City

Because it isn’t just a case of a couple of your best players get in and you get a game postponed.

Fulham postponed their game at Burnley because they had positive cases and upon retesting, they had more positive cases. It wouldn’t be a good idea to send a squad up to us that is riddled with positive cases.

If we’ve retested, which I’m sure Dyche said we were on Friday, and they’ve uncovered further positive cases, we’d probably be able to put a case forward to the Prem. If it’s under control and there are no further cases in the retesting, then you just have to get on with it, like Sheff Utd did.

Based on what we know we are not within our rights to get the game postponed because there are not enough first team players infected.

We should use the same rules as the FA Cup.

Minimum of 14 fit players or forfeit the game.

All PL clubs have u23 squads and academy players etc, so do what Derby did.

No idea but I do wonder why there's a need to kick off at 8.15 p.m. Is it just for tv. No crowds etc.

Why is it a crap kick off time if you can't go to the game? It certainly would be crap for me if I was abl to attend because I would have to leave at around 3 o'clock in the afternoon and would not get home until around 2 o'clock in the morning. Switch on TV at 8-14 and switch off at around 10 o'clock and can drink as much as I want and then go to bed when I want.

Having said that, I would still love to be going to the Turf!

It's so that I don't have to get up in the middle of the night to watch the game. 7.15AM is great.

What isn't?

PL clubs pour millions into their academies, are you saying that they shouldn't be made to use those players at this time?
If not, then what's the point in having u23 teams etc...

So you would be happy for us to be forced to play important league games with our u23 team? Basically forfeiting games randomly because of an unpredictable virus where you can follow all procedures strictly and still test positive.

If forfeiting games was in place, I’d rather they just scrapped the season or put it on hold.

What I'm saying is its amusing to watch clubs who make millions of ££ from their youth academies, but don't want to play them in the league if their first team squad is afflicted by Covid, but apparently its fine for a cup competition that they don't care about.

The rules should match, if you're gonna postpone league games, do the same for cup games.
If you're going to force teams to play or forfeit Cup games then do the same for league games.

Boro refused to play a game years ago due to flu at their club I think it was, they forfeited and lost points, which contributed to their relegation that season.

There’s a reason those players are in the u23s and not the first team squad, surprised you would be happy with us forced to play massive league games with our u23 squad, it simply isn’t fair and destroys the PL product. It’s like when Big Sam I think used to rest players against the big boys? pretty sure there’s a rule in place now to stop that.

If a club had a dozen or so injuries to their first team squad, which players would they use to plug the gaps?
The answer would be..... The U23's, so why not use them now if a club has players who're incapacitated?
We've been using some of our lads due to our non Covid related injuries, if we'd sustained more injuries we would promote more U23's to keep the squad numbers up.

Mick Mccarthy was the biggest culprit I think at Wolves for resting players once.
