Burnley v Manchester United - Match Thread
Our fit and healthy Mighty Heroes step forward tonight, to see off the big spenders from the Trafford Centre, once again.
Madge is rested and raring to do her bit, for the cause, if welcomed.
Let's get behind the lads and send the rich folk home with a food parcel. (Mr Rushford, keep up your off pitch good work)
Come on Burnley Come on Burnley Come on Burnley

Re: Burnley v Manchester United - Match Thread
I see that Madge has been removed already.
I wrote the following on the MK match thread -
"I completely fail to understand why anyone is complaining about pictures of Madge. She is fun. She has been the mascot of the matchday thread for years, ever since HolyCustard found her in a shoe box in his cupboard under the stairs.
Could someone explain what there is to complain about?"
So far no-one has enlightened me. It seems very narrow minded to complain about a young, French singer/dancer (Alizee) who has delighted match day viewers for years.
I'll ask again - could someone explain, please?

Poor Madge suddenly started “upsetting others”, so she had to go apparently.
She was also referred to as being “hideous”.

Re: Burnley v Manchester United - Match Thread
Getting lots of complaints about the match day threads and with good reason. One match recently I had to remove so many posts that contained horrendously bad language, mainly from one poster, last weekend it was blatant racism. Then there are the juvenile thread titles. Last Saturday we had one poster using the thread to criticise another poster for daring to start the thread, claiming his to be official. Absolutely ridiculous.spadesclaret wrote: ↑Tue Jan 12, 2021 6:42 pmI see that Madge has been removed already.

Quite simply, these threads are causing a lot of problems and if it continues then the only answer will be to close the board down during games.

Re: Burnley v Manchester United - Match Thread
It's what I can only describe as a miserable day here in SW Ontario. Minus 6 degrees, cloudy, damp and some kind of freezing mist. My condo car park is getting slippery, I hope they salt it soon. I'm not confident of a positive outcome vs United today, hopefully we can avoid a battering, 0-2 would be acceptable. Funny though, some reporter on Sky is calling for a 1-0 Burnley win, maybe he knows something we don't, or he's found a good drug dealer
As for Madge, I don't see the problem, she's quite entertaining without being offensive.

Minus 3 in SW Scotland - clear and been a lovely day. Not overly optimistic tonight. I'll go 2-1 to us.

All seems perfectly reasonable Tony but the racist comments, lies and foul language need to be sorted out regardless of whether this is a match day thread or one of another subject. Not sure Madge is to be blamed for this it’s a bigger topic and not easy to resolve overnight
Silly titles - fair enough

In August 2009 we beat ManU 1-0. It was our first game at t'Turf in the Premier League.exilecanada wrote: ↑Tue Jan 12, 2021 7:08 pmIt's what I can only describe as a miserable day here in SW Ontario. Tonight we play ManU again. Tonight is our first Premier League game under our new owners.
Welcome to Turf Moor, Alan Pace and ALK.
1-0 will do for me.

Re: Burnley v Manchester United - Match Thread
I don’t like the look of the starting line up (especially the strikers) but hope the front 2 prove me wrong.

I don’t expect you to name names but could you please explain what these complaints are centred on? The bad language, racism I can understand. The thread title, photos of Madge might not be to your liking or sense of humour but they are harmless. The post about starting the thread was light hearted and taken that way by Steve.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Tue Jan 12, 2021 6:53 pmGetting lots of complaints about the match day threads and with good reason. I've seen much worse line ups. If only the strikers put their boots on the right feet, we might just turn in a shock result.

That's exactly what Robbie Brady does do and he knows what to do when he gets there because he used to play at full backGordaleman wrote: ↑Tue Jan 12, 2021 7:24 pmI doubt he'll get much help from Brady either. He doesn't like tracking back.

It reminds me of Waddle’s reluctance to play Glen Little.

Vydra always looks more impressive as a sub than a starter - Jay on the way back from injury - hardly surprising that Wood and Barnes start
Nice to have options from what is the strongest looking bench we've named in a long time
Was there any substance to the covid rumours around Brownhill and Westwood?
