Lucky to score....
Burnley conceded a Deflected Goal to a multimillion pound Team. We were unlucky....fine margins tonight.

Are you Dyche in disguise?
More like United didn’t have to get out of second gear and we didn’t manage a shot on target for the 5th game this season

Re: Lucky to score....
Actually they scored in the first half but I get what you mean... that said Shaw shouldn’t have been in the pitch to make the cross.
We need more up to. The ball just kept bouncing back in the second half.

Playing ugly and winning games gives em a chance I'd say.

Re: Lucky to score....
Couldn’t work out if we was making them look good.
Wood and Barnes unacceptable effort.Wood looks lost and like he’s running on ice. Barnes half ok but ref knew his game. I know he fluffed his lines but vydra could have had 2 in 10 mins is that luck?
No wing play at all seen as they was both playing right and left back meaning we don’t win any fouls in the wide areas to then try score from set pieces.
But yeah a deflected goal with second/third choice full backs and wingers on both sides got to try stay positive and I don’t think we planned for points from this game.

Re: Lucky to score....
It is the bit of luck that helps you win the league and United had that tonight with the deflected goal. Sadly, we can't even get that sort of luck at the minute with centre backs catching the ball between them but no hand ball, in spite of the fact that three hands were involved.
They know that they were in a game tonight and, as a Clarets fan, I can't ask for any more in the present circumstances.

0 shots on target for the 5th time this season. Lucky that we’re in a transfer window.

0 shots on target out of 12 says it all.
We played well, were unlucky at times, but need to score.

Re: Lucky to score....
Burning pedantic but Pieters had an age to get close to Rashford but stood off. Given the shot needed a deflection it was a case of really fine margins.
Otherwise fantastic.

Yes I think I saw a stat where Van De Beek cost more than our entire starting eleven. It really does show the gulf in finances, it is the equivalent of Burnley playing Mk Dons in the league.clitheroeclaret3 wrote: ↑Tue Jan 12, 2021 10:31 pmTelling stat on Sky, Clarets team cost £40m+, Man utd £460m+

I was telling a united fan only player we signed from a Premier League club in the 11 was Mee (who was unwanted at City) not quite sure it was a correct stat but feels itNewcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Tue Jan 12, 2021 10:53 pmYes I think I saw a stat where Van De Beek cost more than our entire starting eleven. Re: Lucky to score....
that was my sticking point - though Tommy Lawton hasn't played for years (and was at Rossendale Utd) I assumed Mathew Lowton - did he sign after relegation or before?

Re: Lucky to score....
You could argue they were fortunate with the deflection, but 2nd half they bossed the game, and on balance deserved to edge it.
And if you know the opposition isn't offering a threat at the other end, which we weren't until the final few minutes, then 1 goal is always likely to win you the game.
To put this defeat into perspective, only Leicester have denied United an away victory in the PL this season, so it's no disgrace to lose narrowly to a team that now sits atop the league, our season won't be determined by results such as tonight, and generally we can take many positives out of this game, and look to West Ham and hopefully 3 points on our travels at the weekend.

Re: Lucky to score....
Although United were the better team they had the necessary luck which is often important in a tight game of football.
