Name your utility XI in a 4-4-2 please.
Rules: players must have played at least FIVE games in at least two positions to qualify.
Your goalkeeper must be a player that player that has played at least once in two positions (an outfield player)
Or a goalkeeper that has had at least two spells at the club.
You must also name a manager who has played for the club (not necessarily as a player manager)
Players to consider: Erik Pieters, Graham Branch, Ben Mee, etc...
Let’s see form a team of dependables!

Don’t understand the goalkeeper rules but Neenan, Beresford, Crichton & Grant all had two spells at Burnley including loans so we start with Lee Grant.

Your keeper can either be someone like Marlon or it could be someone like Eyres, Monno or Spicer

If I have this correct it's pick a team of players in positions that you would not consider their "natural" position?
Pretty sure all the player below have played in these positions in games for us.
Spicer
Elliot McCann Waddle Branch
Arfield Bikey Edgar Pieters
Hendrick
Swan

Monnington
Farrell, Duff, Mee, Branch
Weller, Jakub, Spicer, Eyres
Jones (Steve), Lafferty
Duff selected on the basis of his one (disastrous) game up front v Reading at home
(And his 5+ at centre half and right back)
EDIT - Manager = Adrian Heath

Brian Laws
David Edgar...Michael Duff...Ben Mee...Keith Newton
Dave Thomas...Martin Dobson...Wade Elliott...Leighton James
Robbie Blake...Peter Noble
If the previous post re: playing players in their unnatural position is correct my side is obsolete.

Gotta include our clubs current best striker Kevin Long. He's also been played at CB a few times though god knows why as he cant defend for toffee

You could play Branch anywhere really. Maybe even move him to centre half with McCann at left back. I do like the idea of Bikey & Edgar as a midfield two.

Roger Eli - started as a CB before converting to a striker
Also seem to remember Gerry Harrison playing at CB as well as midfield

Wasn’t Lee Howey a centre back who could play up front?
Not sure if he ever played at the back for us?
Then again I’m not sure he ever played football for us.

Andy Farrell, the ultimate 'utility' man. What a fantastic servant he's been to the club.

I may be dreaming this, but didn't Peter Mellor go off injured in his debut at Derby in August 1969?
If I'm right, who replaced him in goal?
I should be able to remember all this, I was at the game.

Don't know whether it's the game you are thinking of but I seem to remember Les Latcham going in goal sometime.

And Colin Blant might get into the team - centre forward / centre half.

Surely Peter 'Uwe' Noble plays - he played in all sorts of different positions for us didn't he, and he even has two names!

You can probably date fans by their answers to this. My first instinct was Farrell, Branch and Monnington to be in there.

Don't you just miss the days when they used to shove Swann, Monington etc up front for the last ten minutes?
No, I don't either.

He played it many times in that good awful season until he realised he should just hang up his boots.
