Re: West Ham v Burnley - Match Thread
As I said earlier, I could understand Wood and Barnes starting if McNeil was supplying crosses, but he isn't.
And knowing Sean, that means he's unlikely to come of the bench until at least the 60th minute, by which time, Vyds and JayRod are likely to come on.
I think Sean is doing things the wrong way round.

Re: West Ham v Burnley - Match Thread
Disappointing not to see McNeil starting
The only wide man who could take on the full back down the outside and cross the ball to strikers who would then actually be facing the opposition goal
I agree Wood and Barnes have been poor lately but when they always have to receive the ball with their backs to the goal they haven't the pace or skill to deal with it in the penalty area never mind elsewhere

Fair challenge Dandeclaret. Our defensive shape is clearly getting us 'results', with Mee, Tarks & Pope, in particular, doing what they do well, but to win games you have to score goals. That was more my point. We need contribution from the front two, and Wolves game aside, they just aren't showing they are a threat. Lets hope today that all changes, as I am a big fan of both.dandeclaret wrote: ↑Sat Jan 16, 2021 2:21 pm7th in the Premier League form table based on the last 6 games....... how on earth is that not producing results?

Are you seriously suggesting our Ginger Messiah will be making three substitutions by around the hour mark ?Gordaleman wrote: ↑Sat Jan 16, 2021 2:23 pmAs I said earlier, I could understand Wood and Barnes starting if McNeil was supplying crosses, but he isn't.

In all fairness, Sean Dyche has been right more times than Wellsy has been wrong, and that takes some doing!Gordaleman wrote: ↑Sat Jan 16, 2021 2:23 pmAs I said earlier, I could understand Wood and Barnes starting if McNeil was supplying crosses, but he isn't.

I’m going to put my neck on the line and say both Barnes and Wood will score today

Re: West Ham v Burnley - Match Thread
Since Burnley lie 20th in the table for goals scored in the final 20 minutes of games, perhaps the penny will drop with SD that bringing on a fresh pair of strikers to grab a goal with 10 minutes remaining isn't really working.
Whether it will happen in this match who knows?

Love the theory, but if I get a hammer and **** myself on the thumb with it, it’s going to hurt every single time.......Roosterbooster wrote: ↑Sat Jan 16, 2021 2:11 pmThanks for asking. I'd love to. The quote is "insanity is doing the same thing over and over, and expecting different results." Its attributed to Einstein. But he never said it. Probably because it's incorrect. If you do the same thing over and over, you should expect different results. That's chaos theory. And it is a well evidenced theory which we see on a daily basis.

Considering we’re 20th in the table for goals scored at any time that’s hardly surprising.kentonclaret wrote: ↑Sat Jan 16, 2021 2:34 pmSince Burnley lie 20th in the table for goals scored in the final 20 minutes of games, perhaps the penny will drop with SD that bringing on a fresh pair of strikers to grab a goal with 10 minutes remaining isn't really working.

Must be hard for jay and vydra to keep positive knowing that no matter how hard you train and play nothing will get you a start no matter how poor Barnes and wood play

Maybe Jay and Vydra aren’t showing Dyche enough in training, or when they’re given opportunities to play.

Not surprised to see Wood start or Vydra on the bench but did think Jayrod would start ahead of Ash.
Oh well, he's proved his doubters wrong many times before, let's hope it's another "see, told you so" from Sean around 5pm!

You don't get match fitness Premier League standard by only training. Dyche said it in his press conference. They may be fit but they aren't matchday fit. You only get that by playing.

Re: West Ham v Burnley - Match Thread
Whenever England play you always get posters on here saying they won’t watch the games because Southgate always picks the same players no matter how poor their form is.
I fail to see the difference with Dyche.
Yes, one day Wood and Barnes may come back into some form (today may even be that day) but I’m sure Southgate thinks the same with the players he picks for the England squad.

Yes, but if the medical staff recommend that Rodriguez is given a maximum of say 30 minutes in his next appearance, then it would make total sense for that to be from off the bench rather than being substituted in the first half.diamondpocket wrote: ↑Sat Jan 16, 2021 2:52 pmYou don't get match fitness Premier League standard by only training. Come on Burnley! They've some very good players. Let's start bright early and get at least a point. Hope Wood and Barnes can bully their back four.

I VOTE for you Tribesman.
The thing that is worrying is because someone complained about MADGE so they took it down. Just because it insulted someone yet the majority don't really care, it's a bit of harmless fun.
It's like a few clowns fighting with Blackburn fans or wrecking their own town centre when 95% behave decently who then have to go on buses 3 hours before kick off to go to a game. Making decisions based on a few complaints and not listening to the majority.
This is the problem for me.

You get match fit by playing matches. But that can often mean a few bench appearances first.
