I was looking at that table and thinking " wow, a lot of draws that season" until i realisd the D and L columns are the other way round to how they are now :D

Because that's exactly where the team was formed by workers based at the weapons and munitions store (arsenal) originally based in Woolwich, south of the river. Hence "The Gunners" emblem, even after they moved to north London and dropped Woolwich from their name.
