BFC complain to Amazon re: Saturday’s commentary

Sorry if posted elsewhere.
Picked up on a few of these things myself and felt they were unduly negative. Glad we’re raising these issues and not just accepting them.

This is mentioned on the Takeover thread
Re: BFC complain to Amazon re: Saturday’s commentary
You'd like to think ALK had more important things to be getting on with.

If what is being said or reported is incorrect then the new owners have every right to complain. I think this is an area where they will have a positive effect.

Pretty much that;evensteadiereddie wrote: ↑Mon Jan 18, 2021 9:27 amInteresting. What did the pundits actually suggest ?
There's been no communication since the takeover - must have imagined the 2 interviews/press conferences of Alan Pace on the website, not forgetting the daily tweets from him on Twitter
The new board aren't at the game because they are hiding in the Ribble Valley
We haven't bought anybody yet as there is no money
They did plug our yellow kit a lot though so expecting sales of that to increase this week

I think it's starting to become clear which journalist to follow for Burnley news.

One surefire way to refute Amazon's allegations is to get some players signed
Re: BFC complain to Amazon re: Saturday’s commentary
The Mainly Snail?
Not sure why anyone would pay to much attention on here as to what is or isn't printed in that rag.
However I think it's quite right and proper for our new owners to simply point out the wrong reporting if they think it is giving a negative view of ALK.
The message to Amazon (and any other media) is don't mis quote about Burnley FC, which I think is only right.

Re: BFC complain to Amazon re: Saturday’s commentary
While Amazon's commentary was inaccurate, they aren't expected to be experts on Burnley, and ultimately there are going to be much bigger issues ahead for the new board to get in a tiz about.

Probably because the author of that piece is the journalist who was given an exclusive interview by Alan Pace.Peter Loo wrote: ↑Mon Jan 18, 2021 10:34 amThe Mainly Snail?

Not sure how true this but is if it is I suggest that our new owners toughen up or they are going to be in for a rough ride coping with the British press.

Re: BFC complain to Amazon re: Saturday’s commentary
I'll give the club the communication point, they have been a lot better since the takeover on certain aspects.wilks_bfc wrote: ↑Mon Jan 18, 2021 9:51 amPretty much that;

When did they say they were hiding? I heard them talking about the chairman isolating with COVID in his Ribble Valley home, definitely not about them hiding! And the Ribble Valley mention was not in a nasty way I thought. Took it more that it was a nice part of the country.
"We haven't bought anybody yet as there is no money" - still to be proven as they are quite right, we've not bought anybody yet. We're now in debt because of the takeover so factually that's true.

Unless comments are slanderous....
what is the point of pundits, and to some extent commentators, if they can't express their opinions?
I suppose clubs could supply scripts to be adhered to

Re: BFC complain to Amazon re: Saturday’s commentary
There's only been 5 signings in the whole of the prem so far. It's hardly right to accuse us of not backing SD , when we are in the same boat as everyone else.
Re: BFC complain to Amazon re: Saturday’s commentary
Well if they are in for a "rough ride" as you put it then that won't be much different as Burnley FC haven't exactly been having a smooth ride in most of the press over our history for at least 60 years IMO.Cirrus_Minor wrote: ↑Mon Jan 18, 2021 11:03 amNot sure how true this but is if it is I suggest that our new owners toughen up or they are going to be in for a rough ride coping with the British press.
Also I'm sure our new owners know a thing or two about tough, but we will see.

Re: BFC complain to Amazon re: Saturday’s commentary
ALK must now realise they have a hell of a battle on to change the medias stereotyped perceptions of the club and the town. Something us supporters have long known and put up with. It is a good sign they are willing to take them on but their actions rather than their words will be the only thing that will ultimately change the media perception. Hopefully in the coming months and years we can change the media perception and if we do that will mean we have improved on and off the field.

I guess that’s Jeff Bezos crossed off the ‘possible investor’ list.

They are going back a lot further than that though when judging even though ALK weren’t involved then.Colburn_Claret wrote: ↑Mon Jan 18, 2021 11:27 amThere's only been 5 signings in the whole of the prem so far. This seems a contradiction to me. By challenging their lazy and innacurate reporting they are being tough whereas ignoring it could be construed as weakness.Cirrus_Minor wrote: ↑Mon Jan 18, 2021 11:03 amNot sure how true this but is if it is I suggest that our new owners toughen up or they are going to be in for a rough ride coping with the British press.

Very much so.what_no_pies wrote: ↑Mon Jan 18, 2021 1:36 pmThis seems a contradiction to me. By challenging their lazy and innacurate reporting they are being tough whereas ignoring it could be construed as weakness.
I think, if done in a polite way (as Alan Pace's public response to the Athletic article was), it's right that we should call out media peddling untruths. But of course, the only way to give the media something else to talk about, is to accelerate their plans for the club.
