Interesting to note that his signing may have been the cause of the start of the
rift between Dyche and Garlick.

Can't say that I'd heard that one before tbh.

That is new information to me also.

Interesting if the chairman signed him over the managers wishes

I heard it a while ago but saw it in print recently which meant I could use it.

Thoughts are with Kasimpasa at this difficult time.

You can understand Dyche being miffed if he gets given a busted flush likely to upset the dressing room probably at the expense of getting someone in who would buy into the Burnley way...

Confused as didn't Dyche work with Drinkwater at Watford? So are we saying Dyche didn't want him?

It could have been the other way round
Thought Dyche was quite complimentary about him in the early days

Of course if it was Garlick going over his head, then add that to the Vydra signing means my marriage is more harmonious than theirs (and that is saying something ;) )

Chairmen should never sign players their manager doesn't want.

He’s not exactly going to come out and say he didn’t want him here though is he

Can’t say I’ve ever heard of this team. What’s the equivalent - low Championship/League One level? Surely they can’t be paying his full wages?

Interesting thread considering the many threads when he was here demanding that he plays and that Dyche didn’t know what he was doing.

Some balance

The best comments about him were when he signed for Villa and one poster (can't remember who it was) was banging on about watch him now he has a good manager, then it moved onto straight into the starting line up while we wouldn't give him his chance.

Then he had his debut and the poster went quiet

I had a bit of a bad feeling about Drinkwater from the moment I watched his first interview with us. He just didn't seem to fit. I understand that some players are perhaps shy, less talkative or whatever but he just looked like he didn't want to be there. I probably read too much into it but his spell with us didn't exactly change my opinion of him! Just a waste of space.

Some amazing comments in these 2 threads.

I have to say I did wonder if his signing might he been part of the fall out.

What a waste of money he was.

To be fair, at the time, I thought Drinkwater was a decent signing. Ticked the boxes that we needed and he needed a new home. I thought it was a shrewd move. Obviously the concerns were his match fitness and his wage demands... but it was just a loan move and if he brought what he had brought to Leicester then he'd be worth the investment. I wonder if things might've been different if he hadn't have been attacked in Manchester...

But his attitude was dreadful, from what I've been told by club staff they wasn't impressed either. I remember watching the 'welcome video' and the interviewer was trying to get some positive vibes from him - but he replied with just the standard footballers answers without a smile. He didn't want to play for Burnley Football Club. I think it was clear from the beginning.

Few minutes after Lampard sacking is announced he posts a picture of himself celebrating.
Sure it was a coincidence though.

Isn't it great to see him learning from his mistakes and being a better, more responsible individual?

Keep turning over those new leaves, Drinky.

He'll probably at some stage in the future join the list of ex premier league footballers to be declared bankrupt ( assuming he hasn't been already). Undoubtedly talented but for some reason, can't make full use of his talents.
