Stat of the day

Post by Newcastleclaret93 » Mon Jan 18, 2021 4:56 pm

Only 7 other teams in premier league history have scored 9 goals after 17 games.

5 were relegated. 1 avoided relegation and the other is Sheffield this season that look destined for relegation.

In our last 3 league games, we have scored more goals than Liverpool have in their last three league games.

I love how people get upset with facts. Maybe try countering with something optimistic but factual instead

I was going to post a stat myself but as this got there first I'll have to wait 24 hours.

Another stat - the 22 goals we have conceded is the second best we've ever had in the Premier League at this stage.

Goal differences after 17 games in the Premier League

2017/18 - plus 4
2019/20 - minus 7
2016/17 - minus 12
2020/21 - minus 13
2009/10 - minus 14
2014/15 - minus 14
2018/19 - minus 18

PS: I hadn't realised we could post other stats after the "Stat of the Day" had been posted. Can't wait for tomorrow's stat from the OP...

Good news for you, you can get at least 9/4 on us being relegated.

Why not lump everything you have on it the winnings might cheer you up

I''ve just "lumped" £6 on us to beat Liverpool 0-1 on Thursday. And another £4.00 on us to win outright.

If it pays off then the Milky Bars are on me.

That stat doesn't look correct to me. A quick look at the league table and even just picking this season all the teams have scored 9 goals after 17 games. I don't think it's as big an achievement as the OP thinks it is.

Here's another , bearing in mind this week's game. We've only let one more goal in than Liverpool have.

I am surprised 09/10 was only minus 14 at this stage despite the away defeats we had.

We’d got all those home wins in by then. Home was plus 5 but away minus 19.

Your post is a bit pointless? I haven’t said we are going to be relegated I am merely sharing an interesting stat.

In regards to where I made that comment it was to suggest that you were incorrect to say Brownhill was a top premier league midfielder because he had good interception stats. When in reality he has the third worst offensive stats in the league. The kid can run around a lot but produces nothing.

I have a suggestion regarding stats...

Let’s just ignore them all... I mean ALL of them whether they prove your argument or not. It’s a well known fact they can be manipulated to prove or disprove almost every single theory you can think of.... so bin em, ignore em.

Once we’ve done that, let’s actually trust what our eyes tell us.

The one thing you fail to point out is that all those sides who got relegated would also have shipped goals for fun.
