Has been let go......and was on....wait for it.... £170k a week. Nothing short of astonishing.

I’m assuming that figure is per yearClaretAndJew wrote: ↑Mon Jan 18, 2021 8:33 pmFree transfer though so cost just over 6.7 million for 3 years.
Yep.... £20m over 3 years. It’s not hard to see how the odd bad decision at this level leads to a spiral.
Lot of money for a bit part player. I think I can recall him playing against us on one occasion.dandeclaret wrote: ↑Mon Jan 18, 2021 8:55 pmYep.... £20m over 3 years. It’s not hard to see how the odd bad decision at this level leads to a spiral.
Just shows the flaw with the popular 'net spend' arguments on the internet. £0 in transfer fees but taken £20m out of the club for almost no return.dandeclaret wrote: ↑Mon Jan 18, 2021 8:55 pmYep.... £20m over 3 years. It’s not hard to see how the odd bad decision at this level leads to a spiral.
On the other hand, when contract renewals are coming up, you aren't going to persuade players to re-sign on £3m per year when they know their less-able teammate is on £8m per year.Herts Clarets wrote: ↑Tue Jan 19, 2021 10:10 am20m over 3 years and played 46 games. Works out at 434k per game.
Just slightly less than our own Robbie Brady who has cost in the region of 23m - 40k per week over 5 years plus reported 13m transfer fee. 74 league appearances at 316k per game. Or Steven Defour at 279k per game.
Your “slightly” is 25% less and 40% less....I hope I can find places doing slight discounts on stuff, cos I’ll be in clover. plus both of those have been heavily impacted by injuries. I know you have a bee in your bonnet about players getting injured, but it is something that happens. Surely a better comparison here would have been Gibson. Or maybe we can find a way of predicting that players are going to get injured. No sign with Robbie ore signing, and no chance of Defour without injuries.Herts Clarets wrote: ↑Tue Jan 19, 2021 10:10 am20m over 3 years and played 46 games. Works out at 434k per game.

£15m transfer
£1.5m signing on (if they still have them)
£6.5m wages over four years if he doesn't go this summer
Of course there is a chance to claw some of this back if Norwich or anyone else are willing to pay a transfer fee this summer
there is an awful lot of research in that area and there are likely to be AI offerings to clubs to help manage it - Sean Dyche often refers to models when talking about injured players being ready to return to the matchday squad and such modelling has been used by clubs that have rotated players (particularly those who regularly compete in Europe) for well over a decade now. It is still an imperfect science but great progress has been madedandeclaret wrote: ↑Tue Jan 19, 2021 11:03 amOr maybe we can find a way of predicting that players are going to get injured. RB did have a couple of groin operations whilst at hull which forced him to miss part of season, so he did carry form for being injured in hindsight that was transparent prior, in terms of injuries we got sold a pup certainly not the stallion that some people made him out to be, fine bone China comprises of a stronger makeup.dandeclaret wrote: ↑Tue Jan 19, 2021 11:03 amYour “slightly” is 25% less and 40% less....I hope I can find places doing slight discounts on stuff, cos I’ll be in clover. plus both of those have been heavily impacted by injuries. Yes of course the fact still remains he was injured it’s irrelevant who he played for even if he was at Manchester United, the history is important, when you buy a car you don’t just look at the last recent owner you look at everything from when the car left the showroom. That’s my warped perception from buying & sellingclaretonthecoast1882 wrote: ↑Tue Jan 19, 2021 1:41 pmI know you have a warped view on life, but you do realise that we signed Brady from Norwich not Hull don't you ?
On leaving Hull he featured in 36 of 38 Premier League games in his 1st season and 23 of the games of the 2nd season in the Championship before joining us in January.
