A good time to play Liverpool, Villa & Chelsea

Post by tiger76 » Tue Jan 19, 2021 10:52 pm

I know there's never an ideal time to face any of the big six, however both these sides are out of form, Liverpool winless in 4 PL games, and Chelsea have only won 2 PL games out of 8, so if we could have picked a time to play both, we couldn't have picked a better time to face them.

And Villa haven't played a league game since NYD, so they will be rusty, yes I'm aware they have 2 games scheduled prior to visiting TM, but there's no guarantee those games will go ahead in the current climate, and even if they do proceed then Villa have the prospect of 4 games in 10 days, so they'll be rotating I'd have thought, which must give us a better chance than normal.

No!...1 point from those 3 games will be a bonus
3 points will be a miracle.

I've a tenner on Burnley tomorrow at 16/1.
Not likely I know, but if we can scab a lucky goal early on, then hang on for grim death for the rest of the game, I'll be happy.

Or a good time for all three of them to get their confidence back ;)

So will we all rincon.

Actually, all three of those sides easily have more than enough to see us off at the moment.

Difficult to see how we are going to get anything in these three games.

Thing is, I have lost count of the amount of times I have looked at the fixtures and thought “we are getting nowt off them” only to be pleasantly surprised by the return.

So I’m hopeful if Burnley turn up, but fearful if the opposition do.

If Newcastle can get a draw against Liverpool then so can we as they are worse than us at the moment.

Yes they have so much threat and pace, of course SD could put everyone behind the ball and kill the game

Told you it was a good time to play these sides :) just like when we faced Everton, Villa and Arsenal when they were out of form, and got 2 draws and a win.

Cup game though. I'll be able to relax this weekend as for me it's all about the league.

I agree with the OP. As I said in my post of 20th January which somehow seems to have disappeared. ;)

Question - do you post a thread like this before every game and wait for one of them to be proved right? :D

Nope and I didn't expect 6 points from Pool and Villa, I thought maybe 4 at best, and even that would have been a good return, so to get 6 is beyond even my expectations, and Chelsea hardly impressed last night, so if we can bring our 2nd half performance to the party on Sunday, we must have a chance of bringing something home at least, I don't know what's changed, but we're a different team to the start of the campaign, and long may it continue :)

Four wins and maybe one or two draws will see us reyt.
But I think we'll get more.

Hopefully, the first of those at Stamford Bridge.

I think the change might be that some players have returned from injury and therefore we are literally a different team....

I don't know how long, but the " Times " said 33 games in all competitions, until the Fulham Cup game ....

Our game " in hand " is Fulham at home, Fulham last won at Turf Moor on 21st April 1951 ( When we still sang " God save the King " ) and have played at Turf Moor 32 times since, achieving six draws and 26 defeats ...

Saying things like that is tempting fate........just sayin'.

Villa had won 9 games in a row where they scored first & Burnley had lost 9 when they had conceded first.......the commentator said that, at the end of the first half yesterday....the rest is history.
