I wasn't a full blown Claret when we went home as champions but the last visit wasn't too bad either.

York sensed an upset but we brushed them aside.
We launched our dolphins and it set up a very happy season.

Thought I couldn’t go to that game
When I realised I could I legged it to the junction of the New Road and Tod Road above top Towneley car park and hitched it to the game.
Got a lift back with a lad I went to school with after a trip to the pub
What a night

Doesn't seem too long ago I was watching Nick Pope play there for York..... who'd have thought at the time he would be Englands No.1...

That's where the long journey back begun for many, I wasn't fortunate enough to be there, but the radio commentary brought the scene vividly to life.

Shame for their fans that they couldn't give the old ground a proper send off, but sadly that's the times we're in ATM.

When fans can return it'll provide a new venue for those to tick off their list anyway. Although when that'll be is up for some debate, I didn't realise York had fallen as low as the National League North these days, they were quite a force in the lower leagues not that long ago as well.

I visited Bootham Crescent a good number of times and two visits stand out for very different reasons.

My first visit was on Boxing Day 1984 when we lost 4-0. I watched the game that day from the press box sat between Keith McNee to my right who was ranting throughout the game because we were so poor and Jimmy McIlroy to my left who just tut tutted at how poor we were. He couldn't believe how bad it was and said he wouldn't watch that if he didn't have to even if it were free.

Right, that's that one out of the way.

We all know which the other memorable visit was - 28th April 1992, one of those unforgettable days watching Burnley Football Club. We went there in our thousands and came home as CHAMPIONS.

we were usually dreadful at York, won the one that mattered though, fabulous night. Real shame for the York fans that they couldn't go one last time

My first visit was also Boxing Day 1984. Unfortunately I didn't see the whole 90 mins as N Yorks Constabulary deployed 2 of their finest officers to forcibly eject me from the ground. Given what was served up on the pitch some may say I was the lucky one.

Not a regular away fan at that time. So was surprised my Dad came home early from work about 4.30 with a work mate from Scotland (Partick Thistle fan) and announced 'Get your coat son, we're going to York!'

We just got in to the stand as the whistle blew to start the game. Stood right at the back corner and couldn't see much of the field. A sea of Claret in the ground and around the ground but what an atmosphere and so glad I got the chance to experience it. Burnley were back!

Think the bar owners in every pub on the way back to Burnley made up for it. What a night.

92 obviously but Brendan O’Connell’s miss from under the bar in 1990 was special

Some fantastic memories admittedly clouded by beer, however 92 was just amazing great finish to the game by.one of.my all time favourite Clarets.

Any excuse to watch this again.

One of my favourite memories supporting the clarets was york city away! We got in free to when the police opened a gate next to the turnstiles.

Bootham Crescent will always have a special place in my heart,along with Jimmy Mullen and that special night the beginning of the long road back for Burnley FC.

No I went on the Viscount Central as i had my 14 year old brother with me. I think the only reason I didn't end up in one of the cells was they were already filled with an assortment of Vikings and various other fancy dress clad Clarets that had already been ejected. I did start travelling with Nelson Gasworkers later that season, where there were 2 empty seats on the coach. I soon realised why - it was reserved for the cases of ale they sold on the journey to and from the away game, something that was short lived as the Thatcher govt banned alcohol on football coaches after Heysel in 1985.

As others have said, I went there numerous times and on some occasions we were half decent and most were plain awful, but the one which really mattered is in my top 10 outings watching The Clarets!

Should have been sent off for his reaction to our equaliser. His disgusting actions went largely unnoticed, but he was really, really lucky not to be walking. He was more or less unknown back then and went on to have a pretty distinguished top league career, but I never forgot, as it happened right in front of me!!!

Ups and downs there. 92 obviously, but 96(?) losing 3-1(?) in the Waddle season. A lake of **** between the "stand" and the exit. Old grounds all well and good but they pretty much all need demolishing now.

Only time i went was in the awful season under Waddle. Pretty sure it was getting towards the end of September and we scored our first league goal that day. Ended up getting beat 3-1 and came off realising that all the excitement had been misplaced and that we were absolutely dreadful.

I remember us trying to go into Skipton for a drink on the way back, but every road into the town was blocked by the Old Bill.

The O'Connell miss was astonishing as was the aftermath, as disbelieving Clarets hurled pies, sausage rolls and pasties in his direction, the penalty area was covered in pastry.

The best memories are from the away days.....Mansfield away and the tight top of the table clash, Cardiff away which was billed as their biggest game in years, Northampton away and the dramatic late winner, the demolition of Wrexham on their own patch and the late equalisers at Walsall and Scunthorpe - all really incredible, vivid memories!

York away. A pretty poor game from memory but THE most exhilarating of endings and I'm the one in the light blue tracksuit in the bottom left of the screen trying to climb the fence to celebrate with Super Johnny Francis as the winner goes in!

NB. The light blue tracksuit was a Burnley tracksuit (that I almost constantly wore that year) and not a dodgy fashion choice at the time!

Mansfield and Cardiff were 2 funny away days that season. Mansfield joining up with Nottingham Forest strutting round the car park like 80 Danny Dyers must have seemed a good idea for them that morning, not so sure it did at 5pm. Cardiff went in a mini bus and anyone who went in one that day probably also thought it wasn't the best idea, it is a long way back missing windows.

At the 1992 promotion game the video man was situated on a flat roof with a ladder to the roof.

Some Burnley people went up the ladder to get a better view.

The video man worried about his equipment called in the police to clear Burnley fans from the roof.

The Burnley fans duly went down the ladder, the last man removing the ladder, leaving Yorkshire's finest stranded on the roof.

Time for a winner maybe

What a fantastic night the culmination of a great season, Jimmy Mullins Claret & Blue Army. I knew there was going to be a huge following so I thought I had set off early I used the ATM at the old Rawtenstall Asda then filled the tank, I kept both receipts and later stapled them in the programme the time was 3.30 pm but it later became obvious that wasn't early enough to be comfortable. I took a mate and my 9 year old lad and we appeared to be in a vehicle jam for the last 5 miles and it was fast approaching 7.30 and parking appeared impossible and I noticed house owners cars were parked on their own drives and there entries were clear so I stopped outside one house and got out I knocked on the door. An elderly gentleman answered and I asked him the most impertinent question I think I've ever asked "could I park on your lawn" well the reply was absolutely unbelievable "course you can lad you're going to the game aren't you" he said he couldn't remember a night like this.This is a memory that stays with me along with the brilliant attitude of the North Yorkshire police force who kept knocking the plastic balls back beyond the fence and not allowing the game to start until everyone was inside, a truly memorable night.

My first away game had been the previous March at York (2-0 defeat) which I have never forgotten, some bloke accidentally scolded me with bovril.

This night though still remains in my top 3 football experiences to this day. As a football mad kid my dad had been working hard to get me hooked on Burnley, and this night at the end of that season put the icing on the cake.

I remember being on the fence at the side (just in front of the tea bar) when that goal went in and whistle blew it went crackers. My dad grabbed me back and led me through one of the gates on to the pitch. My memory remains convinced that the fences were buckling / bending back as the thousands clambered over them.

Just watched the clip again and still get that tingly feeling.

As others have said, I honestly think we eventually turned the corner that night at Bootham and it was the very beginning of our long (long) road back.

A Clarets essential. I hadn't quite caught the Burnley bug back then but I knew how much it meant to my Dad.

And seeing a Burnley VHS in the Woolworths in Tamworth was amazing.

Nice 1 cheers.

It loks nice and tidy, and will serve the community 7 days a week, not just on matchdays.

Look forward to a visit one day, hopefully not in the league , however in a friendly or something similar.
