Re: Your team and formation vs Liverpool
I'd just like to see Jay Rod back in for Barnes and McNeil of course on the left, with Brady on the right. If Cork was fit enough I'd have him replace Brownhill for this fixture but I'm not sure he's match fit enough to face Liverpool. I hope to god Taylor is ready, we've really missed him.
This would be the same team that played Everton I think - which I thought was as good a team display as we've managed this season.
Jay Rod (who has an excellent scoring record at Anfield) playing a little bit in between the lines and helping out Westwood and Brownhill when Liverpool have the ball. McNeil and Brady tracking the marauding full-backs which is the key to negating Liverpool's threat.
Pope
Lowton Tarks Mee Taylor
Brady Brownhill Westwood McNeil
Jay Rod
Wood

Re: Your team and formation vs Liverpool
You'd like to think that given they have no CB's available and are playing two midfielders at the back, we'd have a real go at them.
It'll be the same lineup as Saturday, playing 4-4-2 and we'll give them far too much respect like we do with City and sit back. We have little creativity in the side, other than McNeil
If we can just play a little football and not be so predictable by lumping it at least it won't be so painful to watch.
I'd rather be in non league than watch anymore of SD mind numbing tactics of just hoofing it and it coming straight back. Tonight will be painful viewing. I'd take 2 shots on target as a positive.

You would rather us be relegated 4 divisions than watch anymore then next breath claim it will be painful viewing.
Get well soon

Re: Your team and formation vs Liverpool
I'm only picking the totally inept Wood because he would PROBABLY be the best foil for Vydra! For me, if it's not to be Vydra, then forget Wood and start with Jay (and Barnes).FactualFrank wrote: ↑Thu Jan 21, 2021 1:28 pmPope

Brownhill Westwood Stephens Brownhill

Stephens probably fitter than Cork at present. Toss up for the lone striker role
Gives us some protection but hopefully enough legs to get upfield

Re: Your team and formation vs Liverpool
Brownhill's going to be busy in that formation.
Re: Your team and formation vs Liverpool
He's good enough to cover two positions
Re: Your team and formation vs Liverpool
Unlike Brownhill I am unable to multitask! Brady on the left midfield

Re: Your team and formation vs Liverpool
Sorry I should of added that the reason for that would hopefully be more entertaining than the current dross served up week in week out. Tonight will be more of the same, ball to centre half and they will hit it 40-45yrds up the pitch and it'll come straight back as Barnes will either fall over looking for a free kick or Wood will be offside.claretonthecoast1882 wrote: ↑Thu Jan 21, 2021 1:22 pmYou would rather us be relegated 4 divisions than watch anymore then next breath claim it will be painful viewing.

As you said earlier though you won't be watching so you'll never know I guess
Re: Your team and formation vs Liverpool
Sadly, the man just trashes it, FF and removes Madge in seconds, even on a non match thread. This will probably disappear too.
Tough times

Re: Your team and formation vs Liverpool
Start the thread without Madge - might be allowed when we score, instead!
Re: Your team and formation vs Liverpool
Nah! He doesn't accept the title either!
I am not welcome. C'est la vie.

Re: Your team and formation vs Liverpool
We know SD rarely deviates from 4-4-2 but I'd play a 4-1-4-1/4-5-1 tonight. Extra man in midfield/defence. I think this could lend to McNeil floating a bit more like he did at Palace to great effect.
Re: Your team and formation vs Liverpool
Please just change Wood and Barnes both starting, any combination that recognises one or both of them need a rest.....Vydra, JayRod and Mumbongo must be wondering why they are not getting a start, I am firmly in the camp that Sam Vokes was a rubbish sub for us and then he got a run of starts that changed him completely.

Wood and Barnes up front, Dwight to start. Salah on bench (for Liverpool obviously)

Re: Your team and formation vs Liverpool
Whilst agreeing that Wood and Barnes are seriously out of form, they won't get it back sat on the bench.vinrogue wrote: ↑Thu Jan 21, 2021 5:33 pmPlease just change Wood and Barnes both starting, any combination that recognises one or both of them need a rest.....Vydra, JayRod and Mumbongo must be wondering why they are not getting a start, I am firmly in the camp that Sam Vokes was a rubbish sub for us and then he got a run of starts that changed him completely.
