You can **** right off with your 5’a and 6’s lads..... you don’t win away at Anfield with players putting in a 5/10 performance. Have a day off.

Pope 9 (MOM and would have had 10 but for 2 rubbish throw outs which nearly cost us. Just bloody boot it. We're Burnley for God's sake!!)
Lowton 8
Tarks 8
Mee 9
Taylor 9
Westwood 8
Brownhill 6 (Chases a lot of shadows and looks a bit out of his depth. Sorry)
Brady 7 (If he could cross a ball he'd have got 10)
McNeil 9
Barnes 9
Wood 7 (After a more than decent first half, I sadly felt he reverted to type. Wooden!)

Pieters 8 (I was very worried when Taylor had to depart, so fair play, he did really, really well)
JBG 7 (Really should have hit the target with an excellent chance)

Absolutely brilliant performance and just so, so us. Let them have almost all the ball, soak them up and then hit them where it hurts. We are horrible for the neutral to watch and I get why no one likes us, but I'm a claret and all I'm interested in is the score. And we only went and bloody won!!! proud as!

Pope 9 - Would have been 10 other than one or two questionable distribution moments.
Lowton 8
Mee 9
Tarkowski 9
Taylor 7
Westwood 8
Brownhill 8
Brady 7
McNeil 8
Wood 7
Barnes 8

Pieters 7
Gudmundsson 7

I was hoping we would see a change up front tonight but I thought Barnes and Wood did everything they could every time they got the ball. Some good movement and gave the Liverpool defence problems. I still don't think it justifies sticking by them no matter what, but fair play to both of them tonight.

Forgot a special mention for Dwight as once again he turned TAA to jelly when he was on the front foot and even managed to nutmeg him.

Tracked him back well but couldn't contain him going the other way. Thankfully the standard of ball from TAA rivalled that of one of our own.

I'll score this how I do every week, trying to take emotion out of it and go off what I saw with a level(ish) head

Pope 10 - The world class saves, world class command of his box, even had good distribution tonight. Balls to Pickford's fancy footwork, that is what a goalkeeper should do. Keep the ball out of the net and let the outfield players do the fancy footwork. You listening Gareth?????
Lowton 8 - Defensively stopped Robertson being able to pick a man, instead they had to resort to aimless balls in
Tarkowski 9 - Block, block, block. Shut out Liverpool through the middle easily
Mee 8 - As Tarks apart from the silly mistake
Taylor 8 - As Lowton, kept Alexander-Arnold quite
Brady 7 - Worked hard defensively but his final ball was awful
Brownhill 7 - I thought he was over run for possession but defensively he was rock solid
Westwood 8 - Defensively like Brownhill but did better with the ball
McNeil 9 - Tried some fancy stuff in dangerous areas but I'll forgive that for how hard he works, calmness on the ball and that willingness to have a go at the opposition
Wood 6 - An improvement on previous weeks
Barnes 9 - Bullied both centre halves and came out on top 9 times out of 10. Didn't throw himself around like he has done in previous weeks. Brilliant centre forward play.

Pieters 8 - Took over from Taylor and give just as good a performance
Gudmundsson 7 - Did well and got into the game quickly. Defensively really good and pushed us forward down the right when he could.

Let's not beat around the bush, on another day Origi's shot goes in we lose that game and I think most people's scores would have been different. But it didn't and we went on to win it. That is what should be celebrated here the mentality of the players to keep at it and take the chance when it came.

And for the record......I F&%KING HATE SCOUSSERS :D

Wood 6 the major disappointment in the team.
Dyche 9 organised his team well but could have replaced Wood mid way through the second half.

Didn't watch the game so can't add ratings but was interested to gauge opinions from those that did.

Obviously chuffed as anyone with the result and appreciate the significance in ending Liverpool's 68 game unbeaten home run but have to say, am a bit disappointed with some people's reactions to others opinions.

Seems for some, if you haven't rated every player a 10 you're some kind of traitor.

Genuine question, if we'd put in an identical performance against West Ham and won 1-0 would the ratings be the same or do we always have to balance individual player ratings against who the opposition are?

How many times doDyche and his players follow up a poor performance with a win? A superb win with a fantastic team performance that we have become used to during the Dyche reign. This would be the perfect time for our new owners to announce a couple of attacking new signings.

You have to take into account the quality of the opposition. Imagine if we'd beaten Southend 1-0 at home in the FA Cup with a penalty in the 83rd minute then you wouldn't rate as you would when we've beaten one of the best teams in the country in similar fashion. We came up against an outstanding team tonight with outstanding players. They may not be at their most fluent best right now but it still took something of a performance to beat them, the first team to do so at Anfield since April 2017. I thought we were brilliant from front to back. I can't believe some of the low marks for Wood, in particular, and Barnes. No, they didn't score a bag full of goals between them, but they put in an incredible shift each and caused Liverpool no end of problems.

Well said. We have to remember that 68 (sixty-eight) teams before us failed to beat Liverpool at Anfield in the league.

What the team achieved tonight is remarkable.

Pope 9 - Two wonderful saves and such command of his area.
Lowton 9 - He's been right back at it of late.
Tarkowski 9 - This kind of performance is the norm for JT. Superb player and should start for England - not making squads is beyond a joke.
Mee 8 - Mr Burnley. That mistake probably galvanised us somewhat but it cost him a mark in my scores. Who cares?
Taylor 8 - Had been on his way to a 9 too.
Brady 7 - Delivery was lacking but he was fantastic otherwise. Becoming a key player for us and its great to see him back.
Westwood 8 - His energy is tremendous.
Brownhill 8 - His energy is tremendous.
McNeil 8 - A performance which defied his years. He has Trents number. Keep playing like that and the rewards will flood in.
Barnes 8 - Calling him a nuisance doesn't do him justice, but he was a nuisance tonight and took Thiago out of the game.
Wood 8 - Much much better than of late. I hope he can kick on with the confidence that performance will instill.

Pieters 8 - He epitomises what Dyche's Burnley is about. No matter where ALK takes the club we'll always need a couple like him about the squad. Love him.
Gudmundsson 7 - Barely noticed the change which is actually a huge compliment considering the team performance.

No demand for 10's. However, stand square behind the point, that if you're doling out 5's and 6's to players tonight then you're not doing it right. If we'd been playing West Ham.... if Origi had scored...... if If if. The biggest word in football. If. It wasn't, it didn't. Dyche talks about fine margins all of the time. That's top level pro sport. Fine margins. They had a gameplan and the team delivered it. Liverpool's only real decent chance was created by Ben Mee. They had lots of half chances, but nothing of any quality. That comes from the team, every one of them, working hard, being disciplined, doing their jobs, and executing a game plan that achieved something that 68 (SIXTY EIGHT) other teams couldn't, and to further contextualise it, a team that according to the bookies had between a 6 and 8% chance of winning. And do you think that's really achievable with players, at Burnley, being average or worse? I can't have it. I think it's an absolute nonsense of a view. I mentioned the other day that people lack perspective when assessing Burnley..... their goalkeeper cost 50% More than the 13 players that Burnley used last night. I'm not saying be poor old Burnley, but I am saying, contextualise beating Liverpool, the reigning champions, at Anfield, and really ask yourself, could there be a couple of players in there average and below average?

It was an excellent team performance and a great result.

But I'm comfortable with rating Brady and Wood a six each because I thought they were fine but no more than that, alongside some very high scores for some of the other players.

I could equally question those who rated Brady and Wood 8 and the same as Barnes, for example - that to me bears no reflection of Barnes' performance and actually undermines it.

What I would question more though is those who have come on this thread criticising the ratings of others, while at the same time making no effort to post their own ratings.

Pope 9 excellent , 2 quick roll outs that put the pressure on. Other than that faultless
Lowton 9 playing really well, got round on the cover a few times
Tarks 9 magnificent
Mee 8 other than the hiccup, a warrior
Taylor 8
McNeil 8 welcome back young man
Westwood 8
Brownhill 8
Brady 7
Wood 7 held it up well
Barnes 8 extra point for the winning if the pen and the coolness to slot it

Pieters 7

What a great night, the sheer hard work and effort on show was fantastic to see.
A great win, a deserved win IMO for the way we executed the plan.
3 massive bonus points.

Difficult to be objective after that, and it would be easy just to give them all 10's. Here goes...

Pope 10
Lowton 9
Tarkowski 10
Mee 9
Taylor 8
Brady 9
Brownhill 8
Westwood 8
McNeil 9
Wood 7
Barnes 7

Pieters 9
Gudmundsson 7

Pope 9*
Lowton 7
Tarkowski 8
Mee 8 Would have been a 9 if you hadn't almost gifted them a goal in the first half. Repeat after me, "My right foot is only for standing on!"
Taylor 7
Brady 6
Westwood 7
Brownhill 8
McNeil 8
Barnes 8
Wood 7

Pieters 8

Well done for sticking to your guns on that one amidst yet more questioning of people’s ratings from the usual suspects.

I always think the ratings thread works best when ratings are posted and then left alone for everyone else to be free to do the same.
The ratings thread should be like the MOM voting format whereby you can only log in once. Some posters have no respect for others opinions.

Pope - 9 The best English goalkeeper in the league no question
Lowton - 8 Has definitely upped his game. Kept Robertson very quiet
Mee - 9 Absolutely imperious. Would have been a 10 but for the slight error
Tarky - 9 Immense and played to his strengths
Taylor - 8 Seamless reintroduction back in the team. Fingers crossed that the hammy isn’t too bad
Brady - 6 Again his Achilles heel is his set piece and crossing. Work rate is still very good
Westy - 7 That performance was all about shape and discipline.
Brownhill - 7 See Westy
McNeil - 8 Our creative jewel did fantastic and AGAIN had TAA on toast.
Wood - 6 His best performance in a while and hopefully the upward curve continues
Barnes - 7 Typical Barnes showing and an excellent penalty under a little pressure

Pieters - 7 Came on in the eye of the storm and looked composed and snuffed out a lot of their threat
JBG - 7 Made an impression and hopefully his ‘fatigue’ issues have passed

Even though we’re a very hard watch that defensive performance was unreal. We are the very best in the country at what we do. A bit more attacking intent would be nice though!

I agree with those who mark "rationally" but there are times when the result is all that matters.

We were desperately in need of a lift, another point let alone three. Let's just enjoy it!

Credit due to the whole team would really like to give them all extra just look at some of those opposition names !!!

Pope 10 MOM. Very commanding hope Southgate was watching
Lowton 8. Good game kept the threat very quiet down Liverpool’s left hand side
Tarks 9. Superb full stop
Mee 9. Superb app art from the Origi mistake luckily it was Origi and not anyone else 😃
Taylor 8. great to see him back makes a massive difference hope he’s ok
Westwood 8. File under defender today but great job
Brownhill 8. As Westwood
Brady 8. Worked hard poor on deliveries though for some reason
McNeil 9 he skinned TAA a couple of times looks like he’s hitting some form at the minute
Barnes 9 great penalty under massive pressure lol cool as a cucumber though 😀
Wood 8. Worked hard

Pieters 8.
JBG 8

Sean Dyche. 11 I bet he’s still grinning 😂😂

Pope.. 9
Lowton..8
Tark..9
Mee..8
Taylor..8
Brady..7
Westw..8
Brownh..8
McNeil..9
Wood..7
Barnes..8
Pieters..8
JBG..8

McNeil is a bit special.. 3 on him at one point in second half..25 yards out.. Still left them for dead and whipped a tasty near post cross in.
Taylor looking the part...certainly our best left back since Newton.
Not sure how much longer Southgate can pretend that Prickford is better than Pope.

I must admit I'm surprised at not so much at the comments, because this forum has it's fair share of keyboard warriors, but more so the people who have made them. I thought these people had a little more sense of prospective.

I know it's difficult to do these ratings without emotion or prejudice when it's a team you support and watch week in week out but please don't have a go at people for their opinions.

I also don't think the opposition should impact the scores too much. If for example the striker is able to collect the ball, hold it up & bring others into play, or is constantly in good positions, or is working the goalkeeper, it shouldn't matter if they are playing Liverpool or Marine. They should be marked on how well they played against the opponent they are facing. What you would expect is it is more likely the player playing better against Marine than against Liverpool but the opposition shouldn't change the criteria of which you are marking them against

Imagine it's you Bf2k - you're playing up front against James Tarkowski or a 10 year old kid - how do you think that would impact your ability to get into the game and influence it? Then take that 11 vs 11 - and as a striker, isloated, or as a midfielder over ran 3 vs 2 against better individual players, vs playing a vets team with no legs. Opposition stop you from doing that stuff, or vs a team of similar ability. If 1 player doesn't do their job, the system fails.

Your argument, extrapolated, would question why you'd pay more for a striker at Real Madrid than at Fleetwood. Cos they can both Collect the ball, hold it up, and bring others into play, and be in good positions - that's why they're professional footballers. So why wouldn't Liverpool sign him, cos he'd be a million times cheaper than the lad they signed from real madrid.
