It’s so easy to get frustrated with football and our football club at times but please, yet again, just stand back and reflect on what a truly, truly wonderful man we have at helm in Sean Dyche. He is Burnley: we are so fortunate!

Call me old fashioned I do not think a Director of a Premier League club should be doing this - what happens when we are on a bad run?

that is not to say that communication from the club could improve - it can

there are more strategic and operational things he can talk about not the result of a match - It is the job of the directors to keep the club on a sound footing not ride on the back of the success of the team on the pitch. Though even then I do not think they should be too visible. that is not to say I don't want the club to be transparent about it's reporting, which could do with being more timely, or even subject to the rigour of a shareholders meeting. There are areas of governance in that could be greatly improved

I personally don't have any problem at all with the tweet but I think you make a valid point when it comes to being in a rut. Tony Khan at Fulham recently apologised for a performance. I think it was done in an attempt to placate the fans, but Jesus. H. Christ that is just not the done thing in English football. If Pace is able to grasp the culture of English football, i.e. viewing himself as a chairman-custodian, and not a 'general manager' *shudder* then I think it'll be fine. It's a cheap promo on twitter that will be retweeted by virtue of him being chairman. I think his whole strategy at Burnley is to engage foreigners who are casually engaged with "soccer" but actually know four fifths of **** all about English football, and to win them to our cause.

Let’s see his reaction to such a run, as and when it arrives.

My only gripe with his communication to date was the, what I felt unnecessary, criticism of Southampton and their academy.

If these communications continue on the back of evidence of strategic, operational or other failings, perhaps fair enough.

For now, I think we see how things pan out and what Pace and his team deliver. He’s new to the world of running a premier league club - his approach a may change in time or this may simply be the way he operates.

The Southampton thing was completely farcical - next game they had something like 5 Academy graduates in the team a couple on the bench and the opposition also fielded Southampton Academy graduates and had another on the bench

It just brings to mind that American thing of Owners being presented with trophies, uugggh makes me shudder, remember how desperate the FSG guys were to get their own hands on the Champions League Trophy and parade round with it, just wrong - stand in the Directors box smile. clap even cheer and then go away and celebrate in private

We support the team not the board/owners - we may thank them we may loathe them but they should not distract from the achievements of the football staff - and that from someone who has spent all his time on here trying to get people to understand the contribution the previous board had made and understand some of the processes they have gone through to make the decisions they did

Honestly if we win a cup while Alan Pace is here he can shag the handle until his cock is raw for all I care, and I might even join in with him, but in general I sympathise with the point you make about some owners using the success of the team to massage their vanity.

Exactly.
Was reading on social media before kick off on the team selection about Dyche; “he’s lost the plot” “Barnes & Wood again , is this guy clueless”? “Time to get rid”

Final whistle. “Dyche for PM”!!

The archaic view of football and intolerance for building our fan base never ceases to amaze me. The very fact we have an astute chairman at our club who is showing some support on Twitter and willing to back our club means a lot. I don't read too much into it and have no issue if he wants to lift trophies on our behalf. If he gets behind the team and delivers there's no reason why he shouldn't.

We've just beat the champions on their own turf... How about some positivity? A sign of great things to come.

Let's move on from being little old Burnley and welcome new fans with open arms, be them American or any nationality. Anyone with the sense to support us over one of the default top six knows a lot more about 'soccer' than you'd give them credit for.

We may have even made some new fans on the back of today's outing. If any are reading, make sure to ignore the derogatory comments. Most Burnley fans will open their arms to any potential fan, regardless of where in the world they're from.

Can't see any issue with the new chairman who may well be isolating alone still and unable to go to games communicating. There really isn't anything the club can do that doesn't upset someone.

He would be as well to read the match day thread from last night, the first 2 hours are pure gold.

Plus it will also help him learn who to ignore when he reads further comments at a later date.

If he can't tweet when we have an exceptional result he might as well close his account now. He's striking the right balance already, he is simply replying to the club's official tweet in a positive and respectful way.

I dont get the issue with retweeting ( is that what its called? ) the club account and congratulating the team and the manager.

Whilst I didn’t agree with Chester’s points, I’m not sure his view deserves belittling criticism or calls of negativity.

By all means, disagree and have an opinion to debate - just don’t turn it into more goading and name calling. This board will be far better for it.

It’s painful though. Picking holes in anything and everything the new man does. They wouldn’t have been as critical of Mike G making a similar tweet of that I’m certain.

It is very painful. Every thread has some form of negativity on here. Unfortunately that is in many ways the antiquated mindset of a good number of our fans.

It’s the new owners, the new way, they are different and so get used to it as soon as you can. Absolutely nothing wrong with the tweet and I’m sure if Dyche has a problem with such things he’ll let Alan know. I doubt it will be a Klopp like exchange though when he does....

I kind of agree with this tbh. The guy is different. He's from a different culture and he's new to his role and to British footy and we'll see how it pans out over a period of time before we can really decide about him. Initially I feel i quite like him and he's definitely showing his enthusiasm in any way he can, but i do get that he's not daft and he'll have good PR advice and he knows he's got 20,000 grim Lancastrians to win over. (Plus a few softy Yorkies!) :)

Has there been a lot of picking holes, in Pace? I’ve seen a fair bit of investigative work to try to better understand the takeover and how it might have a bearing on the club. I’ve not really seen much criticism of Pace.

Personally I think it's a good thing he's showing support for the team.

I'd also be interested to see how he is if we are on a poor run of form because it's going to happen and no doubt some of our lot on twitter will go for him to express their views.

I understand why people wouldn't like it, but the Accy chairman was always worth a follow and chat too on twitter

that is not to say that communication from the club could improve - it can

there are more strategic and operational things he can talk about not the result of a match - It is the job of the directors to keep the club on a sound footing not ride on the back of the success of the team on the pitch. Though even then I do not think they should be too visible. that is not to say I don't want the club to be transparent about it's reporting, which could do with being more timely, or even subject to the rigour of a shareholders meeting. There are areas of governance in that could be greatly improved
