Re: Stealing a living
Are they stealing a living or taking advantage of a moment to make money from people who're desperate to admire 'famous' people?
I don't understand how influencers manage to make the money that they do despite it being common knowledge they're paid to push certain products, but there we go.
It's also worth noting that many of these low level celebrities really struggle when they drop out of the limelight and end up severely depressed etc.
I'm fine with being a no mark tbh.

Odd innit how values have changed.
If you're a comedian who can consistently fill massive theatres and be successful in prime time tv series with innovative and much enjoyed ideas a certain element who come across as green eyed keyboard warriors have to slag them off.
I suggest you are better off sticking with the foul mouthed so called comics who I would hope and assume you would not be able to share the coarseness and stupid hyena laughing with your children/grandchildren.

Re: Stealing a living
My values haven’t changed fella... they were given to me by my parents and I cherish them. And be kind enough not to offer me any suggestions unless I ask for some, there’s a good chap.lovebeingaclaret wrote: ↑Sat Jan 23, 2021 2:04 pmOdd innit how values have changed.

In my opinion, he’s unfunny. Nothing to do with jealousy. He’s just annoying in that he looks to be forcing it, and trying too hard and because of that I find him unfunny and I struggle to see how he makes a living doing what he does.
Why would you assume that I’m merely jealous, and then insult me without even asking what it is I find funny? In doing that, you’ve just become a caricature of your own post.
For the record, I find Caroline Aherne and Craig cash very funny, along with rowan Atkinson, Stephen fry, Sean Locke, joe Wilkinson, and Jon Richardson. Billy Connolly too but he swears a lot so maybe I’m a bad person who fits right in with your assumption.
Now off you pop and let people with differing opinions have a discussion WITHOUT insulting each other.

Even I can see that bobinho wasn't alluding to MM's physical stature or body weight, but was merely attempting to describe the facial expression that MM often adopts as part of his stage persona. You did get that, didn't you?lovebeingaclaret wrote: ↑Sat Jan 23, 2021 2:27 pmSays it all really...

Did you ever see Ken Dodd, Les Dawson and now Perer Kay. No coarsness no politics and funny. A rare thing days. Being funny particularly.

Re: Stealing a living
He doesn’t, but thanks for pointing out my comment wasn’t a personal slur based on physicality. I think he’s realised he’s made a mistake with his initial reply, so is now looking for something that clearly isn’t there.
Clutching at straws to have an argument rather than discussing the point and explaining why I’m wrong in my assessment of McIntyre.

Erm, where did I say he was wrong? I asked how it could be considered that Philip Schofield is stealing a living? I don’t particularly care for Philip Schofield but I’d suggest that there’s a lot of people who are less good at their job than him. Or am I not allowed to give my opinion unless I agree with someone? Seems odd.

Re: Stealing a living
Really not getting that nomination.
Incredibly intelligent and talented bloke.
Cambridge graduate, highly articulate, knowledgeable, excellent classically trained musician and singer, successful actor, better than average presenter on tv and radio, and by all accounts a very hard worker.
Also: President of the Literary and Philosophical Society of Newcastle upon Tyne and patron of several charities, including Family Links, the Charlie Waller Memorial Trust and Just A Drop.
How you can put him in the same category as McGuiness, Gemma Collins, Rylan, McCall, McIntyre etc,? I would be really interested to know.
How has he upset you?

Re: Stealing a living
He hasn’t upset me.... I didn’t say he had. Neither did I suggest his particular talents rank along the same lines as Rylan, or Collins. Regardless of everything that can be dragged up on google, I am simply going off what I have seen and heard on the telly box/radio.nil_desperandum wrote: ↑Sat Jan 23, 2021 3:44 pmReally not getting that nomination.

He’s a jobbing actor, can’t remember seeing him excel at that. He fronts a pointless game show when all he manages to do is be the bridge between the contestants and the man in the corner who has far more interesting things to say other than “thanks very much in-deed Richard”.
He’s also been a less than convincing comedian, and an even less than convincing singer despite being classically trained.
I personally don’t rate him at anything he does... it’s my opinion, and yours differs which is fair enough. He’s an entertainer.... that for my money, doesn’t, whilst being paid huge sums. That fits the thread title for me.
