Larry King

Post by claptrappers_union » Sat Jan 23, 2021 1:20 pm

Just read that Larry King has passed away. The British don’t really do talk shows like the Americans do but he was certainly up there with best in that genre.

I don't really watch the American talk shows, but yes Larry King was at the top of that tree I'd agree.

RIP Larry.

King died quite a while ago from memory. I’ve been watching a series on American comedians, and I was surprised how many of their satirical chat show hosts ARE ex-pats, I thought it was just Corden but there are a good few who barely seemed to have made an impact this side before shipping out to become major stars Stateside.

I wouldn't trust your memory then! It's only just breaking on the news.

Cordon isn’t in the same league as King. But yeah there’s a few Brits doing talk shows over there

I’ve been enjoying dipping into some old Dick Cavett clips on YouTube recently though.

Quite possibly heard he was ill, I only have a passing interest. I can only take so much satire and find some of the new British stuff either OTT or too predictable to be funny, much as I find a lot of the yank stuff.
