The most common diagnosis is probably through it alongside your eyes.

Re: How much sleep do you get?
Since going back on furlough my sleep has been all over the place, just like it was back in April. Having really vivid dreams and waking up all night. Need 6 or 7 hours to function properly.

Re: How much sleep do you get?
I'm usually lucky to get 4 hours, i've started having a gob full of whiskey over the last few months about 30 mins before bed and I'm getting about 7 hrs every night.LoveCurryPies wrote: ↑Sun Jan 24, 2021 7:47 amI would like to have a really good nights sleep but find myself waking in the middle of the night or early in the morning (6ish). It’s really annoying when you don’t have a need to get up and feel more sleep would be beneficial.
Any suggestions?

Probably about 3hrs a night & at weekends about 6hrs, I’ve conditioned my mind not to accept any more or any less, when the experts claim you need at least 8hrs on average it’s a load of ********, how do you think long distance HGV drivers get by they aren’t all slugging red bull & dropping pro plus, if you condition your mind correctly it will accept whatever you allow it & become accustomed to it.

It's not water though, your body isn't desperate to get rid of that. It's sugary drinks that would make you go more than once in the night.

OH DEAR! FF now saying that going to the toilet frequently is not a sign of a potential Diabetes problem and has no correlation.FactualFrank wrote: ↑Sun Jan 24, 2021 3:56 pmIt has no correlation. You can drink a shed load of water and be pi$$ing for England - it's not a sign.
People diagnosed with Diabetes (TYPE 1) will have a blood sugar astronomically high than what it should be at the time of diagnosis. One of the effects of such a high blood sugar level is DRINKING LOTS & LOTS & LOTS of fluids, which obviously in turn makes you go to the toilet.
If someone on a messageboard says that they go to the toilet every hour through the night then I think it is reasonable to say that it might be worth seeing a doctor, seeing as that original poster didn't give any details about current state of health, etc.
Stop arguing for argument's sake.

For those who get up in the night to pee and assuming you go to bed around 11:00 p.m, try not to drink anything after 7:30 p.m. and see if it makes a difference, if it does you can then gauge it accordingly.

Roughly the same for me too, and for the same reasons.Swizzlestick wrote: ↑Sun Jan 24, 2021 11:07 amAlways been a light sleeper, used to be 4 or 5 hours a night but better since becoming a dad, averaging 6 or 7. Very rarely have 8 or more.

Re: How much sleep do you get?
Had real problems with sleeping last March when the lockdown first struck. Bought a FitBit to monitor my sleep patterns and strangely enough it really helped me to see what was going on each night with the app monitoring deep, light, REM and awake. I'm back into my normal sleep now and get at least 7 hours each night.

Re: How much sleep do you get?
I can sleep almost anywhere, taxi’s, planes through take off, trains, seats, during the liverpool game this afternoon anywhere apart from hotels for work..
For around 20 years I have spent 2 or 3 night a week on average in hotels and I just don’t get a solid sleep.
Tried Lavender spray, drinking, not drinking, gym before bed, small meal, big meal, sleeping tablets, everything.

I can feel tired at 6pm, 8pm and 10pm but by midnight I am wide awake. Rarely to I go to bed before 3am even if I had just 4 or 5 hours the previous night.
As Jakubclaret said earlier, long distance drivers, and I used to drive Sprinters into the EU with 1000+ miles a day not unusual, learn how to manage on 'refresher' naps of either 20-30 minutes or a couple of hours with a decent 8 hour sleep every 2 or 3 days getting rid of any tiredness.

Re: How much sleep do you get?
I've no problem being asleep, it's just getting there sans alcohol. My eyes are tired and my body is tired but it's my mind I can't shut down.
I've recently put F.lux on my computer at home to see if that helps with the blue light issues, never have the big light on in the house after tea time, no caffeine after 4pm.
I've tried CBD oil which didn't seem to work, Valerian root tea which sometimes seemed to work, and am currently trying Chamomile and Honey tea an hour before bed.
Exercise, even if only a walk to the shop, in the daylight and outside helps massively. Don't just stay inside with all your artificial lighting and no fresh air.

Re: How much sleep do you get?
There are people who can switch off the bedroom light and be asleep before the room goes dark. I've never been like that, can often struggle to get to sleep. My problem at the moment is as much sleeping patterns brought on by the current situation. I'm sleeping at the wrong times as well. This morning I was out of bed around half an hour ago (at 9:40) but some mornings it can get much, much later when normally it's never really been much past 8 o'clock.Quickenthetempo wrote: ↑Sun Jan 24, 2021 10:21 pmIf your struggling to get to sleep, try the lavender spray on your pillow.

Re: How much sleep do you get?
Tend to sleep 7 - 8 hours most nights.
In bed between 10 and 11 during the week, later Friday & Saturday but up every day at 6am for a walk with the dogs. Never seem to struggle to drop off but I think it helps hardly ever using the internet at night or weekends (apart from betting) rather than being on it until silly hours of the day for things that will still be there the next time you use it.

Re: How much sleep do you get?
Exactly, it’s amazing how resilient the human body & mind can be, as long as you condition yourself so it’s habitual, people working long hours it’s not optional sleep deprivation is forced, the way I see it is you can have 1 hell of a sleep when you are dead, life isn’t for sleeping all the time.bfcmik wrote: ↑Sun Jan 24, 2021 11:02 pmI can feel tired at 6pm, 8pm and 10pm but by midnight I am wide awake. Re: How much sleep do you get?
Hi Steve, I've had rotator cuff issue since September. Started video physio sessions in early Oct. I did my 5th session today. I was getting 10 out of 10 pain early on. I'm now down to 5/10 at worst, much less frequently and mostly lasting seconds only. Based on the improvement and deciding I was 60% better my physio has discharged me. Now just down to me to continue with the resistance band strengthening and a couple of stretching exercises.Steve1956 wrote: ↑Sun Jan 24, 2021 9:34 amSimply not enough,I have done my Rotator cuff and a good night sleep is impossible at the moment got it diagnosed over the phone because I couldn't see a doc...now having physio consultations over the phone...2 co codamol at 11.00 pm...wake up at about 1.30 in pain, get up and make a hot water bottle up to place against the shoulder, restless for the rest of the night...get up about 7.30 and take the dogs for a spin....tough times but it has improved recently the wife has even threatened me with single beds because I'm tossing and turning
Bring it on....great thread by the way.
Of course, I'm now sleeping better - when my "older male" bladder allows.
Good luck with the physio.

Re: How much sleep do you get?
Did my rota cuff in 15 years ago and have turned surgery down twice. Unless you play a racket sport or cricket I would not bother having surgery.
Best cure is ibrofurium until pain goes and then lifting light weights to build up the muscles around the area, this works for me.
If I don't do any weights for over 4 weeks the pain starts returning and if I do to many it does, so I have to manage it properly.

Struggling with my neck (arthritis) and my shoulder (frozen) at the moment but I've just put some washing in, was down on my knees and then struggled to get up. I've just had to crawl through to the stairs to help me get up.
