Will this be made in advance again? If so when will it be?

Let's not count our chickens just yet, we've still got to make sure we're in the draw first.
Re: Fa cup quarter final draw
We got £61,500 for beating MK dons and £90,000 for winning at Fulham today.Fifth round winners receive £180,000 and although it’s not a lot in premier league terms it’s still worth winning.

Re: Fa cup quarter final draw
Loosing in the 6th round can be worse imo than losing a semi final (yes I was at hillsboro when the geordies beat us, all them years ago,) To have reached the 6th round it is then, and and only then that many people start to live the dream and maybe just maybe it may be our turn this year
Have found semi finals to be a bit of an anti climax

Re: Fa cup quarter final draw
looks like it's gonna be an all Premier League QF then. Maybe Brizzle city will beat Sheff Utd and we are always a scalp.
So I guess anyone but the top 6 would be good, Wolves, West Ham, Saints, Brighton, etc, if they get through.

Would be a rubbish year to win it, or even get to the semis. Imagine not being there. Grim.

Re: Fa cup quarter final draw
Looking at the 5th round draw a likely last 8 could be:
Burnley
Man Utd
Sheff Utd
Southampton
Chelsea
Tottenham
Man City
Leicester
If the above is the case, surely Sheff Utd at home is the best chance of the semi final.

Don't want the Manchester clubs and maybe Chelsea depending on how they are going. Any of the others I'd say we'd have a chance especially at home.

Re: Fa cup quarter final draw
Well! it's certainly provided a much needed fillip for me, yes obviously our PL status is key, but if we can get past I assume Bournemouth then we'll be only 1 game from Wembley, if that doesn't excite our fans then nothing will, being realistic we're not going to win the PL anytime soon, so the best chance of putting the club on the mark is a major cup win, and in my living memory (and I'm 45 tomorrow) we've only reached the last 8 of the FA Cup once, and that was back in 2003 when we failed miserably at Watford, in what was a very winnable tie, so depending on the draw we should definitely take the competition seriously now, it's fine saying it's not a great year to have a cup run, and I can see the merits of that argument, however who's to say we won't get drawn away to a big boy in the 3rd round next year, so we should try and make the most of this opportunity well we can.claptrappers_union wrote: ↑Sun Jan 24, 2021 10:06 pmAnd people say the cup isn’t what it was - look at this thread. QF 20th March, we should be home to Leicester C
SF 17th April, we should be away to ManU
Could it be too much of a coincidence?

not because we are still in it, just the whole coverage and a lot of the games. it has regained a lot of its former glory in my opinion.

I hope Bournemouth get through because, imo, Dyche will field a stronger team as he will not want to lose a game to someone he took over the reigns of Burnley from. He's quirky like that is our Sean

I was at Hillsborough too we were without our top goalscorer Frank Casper as hed been crippled at Dirty Leeds by Hunter. We were poor and lost to Newcastle who themselves were well beaten by Liverpool at Wembley
I was also at Watford in the more recent times when we rolled over in the 6th round
I feel this year is our year. We looked good yesterday and could have had 6

Re: Fa cup quarter final draw
I thought we were the better side at Hillsborough v Newcastle, very stylish but undone by you know who.
Agree with the Watford assessment where they were there for the taking and we adopted the tactics of a pub side.
Let's do it properly this time.

Re: Fa cup quarter final draw
I think Dyche may pay more attention to the cup this year in order to impress the new owners. Maybe, almost a first XI against Bournemouth or Crawley?
Re: Fa cup quarter final draw
It happens every year. A couple of wins and people start thinking this could be our year. A big part of me is hoping for it to be but I keep thinking of getting to the final and not being able to attend or getting there and facing Man City and getting hammered as usual similar to what they did to Watford.

Re: Fa cup quarter final draw
It is the worst thing about the FA Cup: playing semi finals at Wembley. Just the expense of travelling down and the rip off ticket prices is enough to put you off once let alone twice. Then there's the magic of reaching Wembley that has been diluted.

What he is doing this season is no different to previous ones.

Re: Fa cup quarter final draw
Having been knocked out of the FA Cup at home by Lincoln and then been given the runaround at home last season by a Norwich 2nd X1 I am sure SD will want to make the most of a home tie in the next round to reach the last 8. Also, as already stated, there are new owners to impress who appear to be taking an interest in the competiton.

I was also at both games as a 14 year old, felt exactly the same, couldn't have been more of a contrast in the 2 games, am I correct in thinking the game against Leeds that the attendance was 35,000+ seem to remember being packed in the bee hole like sardines, around a large contingent of Leeds fans, quite a day, all thought we were gonna win the cup at that point.Top Claret wrote: ↑Mon Jan 25, 2021 2:12 pmPritty much the lowest moment as a 14 year old was to see my team lose an fa cup semi final, when the Saturday before I saw us put 4 past Leeds

Completely agree. A semi-final at a brimming Old Trafford, Hillsborough or Villa Park would be brilliant.

I was also at the home game earlier in the season, that was the largest attendance I have ever seen on the turf, Leeds must have brought 15000 and the attendance must have been touching 40000

Re: Fa cup quarter final draw
Two memories for me - nearly getting lynched at Elland Road, by a group of Leeds skinheads and then only finding out on the day, that my ticket for the Hillsborough semi final was in the Newcastle end and managing to swop it with a Geordie fan who was looking perplexed as his ticket was at the Burnley end.
Also feeling very squashed behind the goals until we eventually managed to move sideways and back away from the crush. I fully understood the situation of the tragedy that took place in later years.
