Selection headache for SD v Villa
Selection headache for SD v Villa
After todays performance, in particular J Rod and Jack. Sean is not used to this sort of problem at Burnley, it's normally lack of players. Villa will be tough, I rate them highly, but I think its important that we don't lose
Re: Selection headache for SD v Villa
You're right. Tricky for the manager but he'll welcome it. Could easily make a case for Cork, Gudmundsson, Rodriguez or Vydra starting but the same or more is true of Brownhill, Brady, Wood or Barnes.

Sean Dyche doesn't get selection headaches.
Selection headaches get left on the bench by Sean Dyche.

I doubt he will change the team that won at Liverpool.
Would love Jay Rod and Cork to come into the team

Exactly my thoughts - no change to the Liverpool starting line up but the bench now has depth.Newcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Sun Jan 24, 2021 7:06 pmI doubt he will change the team that won at Liverpool.

Barring injuries we'll be unchanged from the last league game and Sean will not have a headache.

Only person that disappointed me today was JBG. Something not right with him.

Re: Selection headache for SD v Villa
Of the XI who started today those two have made the biggest case for starting against Villa, they both showed today exactly what we've been missing this season, now whether their match fitness is up to a tough 90 minutes against Villa is for the gaffer and coaches to decide, but for once we've got genuine competition for places, which certainly couldn't be said at the start of the season.
Needless to state Dwight and Tarks will play against Villa, and possibly Pieters if Charlie isn't ready to return, of the rest only JBG will likely be in contention for a starting place on Wednesday, they all did well today, but you do have to take into account how woeful Fulham's second string were, the Villa game will be an entirely different proposition, as they're going great guns ATM.

I can see SD seriously consider giving Jay Rod and possibly even Vydra a start against Villa. Villa can deal with the aerial battle but the movement of today’s two may appeal to the manager as he looks to build on confidence.

It won’t. It just won’t. And he’d have a point in starting with those who worked their socks off and stuck to the game plan at Anfield, despite it not being what some of us want.
I am in agreement with tiger, we are a better (more likely to threaten the opposition from open play) side with both Cork and Jay playing.

Every chance it will be the same as the Liverpool game.
perhaps he will be a bit more proactive regarding subs having seen some squad members perform well.

Lack of game time. Brady has steadily got better, JBG will do the same. By then we might have a new man in.dougcollins wrote: ↑Sun Jan 24, 2021 8:07 pmOnly person that disappointed me today was JBG. Something not right with him.

Thought the same, but I doubt the pitch suited him and the chance of a tough tackle. At 10mins I was trying to get a bet on a Fulham red card.dougcollins wrote: ↑Sun Jan 24, 2021 8:07 pmOnly person that disappointed me today was JBG. Something not right with him.
