Can't recall the last time I've been as relaxed as I was yesterday with still 10 mins. to go. Got very greedy though as my attention turned to keeping a clean sheet. I expected a dour type of game with so many changes and the state of their pitch but we attacked from the off and the scoreline did reflect our superiority. I still want to see an addition or two to the squad but there was no doubting the excellent attitude of those wearing claret and blue at Craven Cottage.

If we win a game easily, as we did yesterday, I'm always really brassed off if they score late and take away the clean sheet. That never looked happening in this game though.

Should Fulham have had a penalty too, Tarkowski trip?
An impressive performance by the B team, nice to see scoring and a clean sheet.

Not for me they shouldn't - he's on his way down and I don't think there is actually any contact at all.

Had it been given you can see why but... like a lot of players they instigate the contact and you can see them going down before the contact (slight if any) was actually made ... hence the VAR got it spot on NO penalty.

I have had a laugh this morning with the comments of someone on the referees' board of which I am a member.
One poster insists that Fulham should have had that penalty, Vydra should not have had his penalty because it was a coming together (no mention that it was a barge in the back).
Same guy was also moaning that Sean Dyche intimidated the referee by shouting "Andrew" ---"Andrew" to try and get decisions and that calling out to a referee like that is cheating and is the same as diving! Then this "As for Dyche he'll continue to do what he does and get away with it."

What is he on about?

What made me smile is if you look at the Fulham players most of them looked quite clean at the end of the game , now on the other hand it looked like the Clarets had been sliding around in the mud .
Bards was off the side of the pitch a couple of times and still saw the funny side of it .
I would say the Fulham lads didn't give 100% .

Aye, they looked very clean in their white kits, didn't they?

I knew we'd won when I saw them all shivering in the tunnel prior to the second half.

Had I been a Fulham fan I would have been gutted the way they let us over -run them. I have never seen so many interceptions by us, and us win so many challenges. A brilliant performance from our goal keeper who made two great saves through to Vydra and Jay, who caused them all sorts of problems. It was good to see Bards, Long, Cork, Stephens, none of whom have been in the first team all having good games too

Fortunately for Fulham their first team has been turning out a better performances of late-having said that they did have a few big names playing yesterday

Fulham's 'first' team have played 8 PL games since they last won, They have drawn 5 and lost 3 scoring 4 conceding 8 and after 18 games have 12 points.
Two seasons ago at this stage the previous 8 games bringing them up to 18 played they had won 1 drawn 2 and lost 5 scoring 5 conceding 14 and had 10 points.
They are not scoring goals, neither are we. however, during this same period we have played 8 won 4 drawn 2 lost 2 scoring 6 conceding 4 and picked up 9 more points than Fulham.

There is a perception that Fulham are playing well just now and I'd been taken in by it until I checked the recent record as reported yesterday.

Yes the attitude was first class from the first whistle yesterday, and that's what really struck me, our fringe players looked like they had a point to prove, well they treated it like a pre-season friendly, I get that they are in a relegation battle, and it was their 2nd string, but to not even compete in the tie must be disappointing to their supporters, and it can't exactly help their confidence ahead of 2 crunch games this week at Brighton & West Brom, and for all the talk of it being a shadow side they still fielded De Cordova-Reid who's their top scorer and Mitrovic, so you'd have expected a tougher challenge than we got, it looked like Fulham just didn't fancy it in the conditions, which funnily enough was exactly the same scenario as our 3-0 replay win back in 2003, unfortunately we mucked it up in the next round at Watford, so let's hope history doesn't repeat itself this time, when Bournemouth or Crawley come calling, we have a golden opportunity to make the quarter-finals for only the 2nd time this century, so let's make sure we grasp it, because they don't come around often, so when they do you need to make the most of them.

They have - they beat us the first time we met in the FA Cup in 1911/12 but we've since beaten them in 1923/24, 1926/27, 1961/62,1977/78, 2002/03 and 2020/21
