The Burnley Triumvirate of Pope, Mee and Tarkowski surely have to be considered by Southgate for an England call up.?

Re: The Burnley Triumvirate
If Southgate saw the Man U and Liverpool games he will have seen the big errors from Ben in both games that have almost led to goals. Nick will be in the squad but behind Pickford and I don't think Tarkowski is ever going to be included now until he plays for a club that play in a different way to us. If Southgate hasn't been picking him in the form he's shown since the start of last season then he's never going to pick him.The Enclosure wrote: ↑Tue Jan 26, 2021 12:23 amThe Burnley Triumvirate of Pope, Mee and Tarkowski surely have to be considered by Southgate for an England call up.?

If we had a better England manager who wasn’t wedded to dogma we’d have a more contented Burnley squad.

Not saying you're wrong, but I've watched Maguire make cock up, after cock up, for united this last year and a half, it never affects his selection. By comparison Ben Mee is a rock.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Tue Jan 26, 2021 12:29 amIf Southgate saw the Man U and Liverpool games he will have seen the big errors from Ben in both games that have almost led to goals. The same distinction can be seen in comparing Nick and Pickford. Everyman and his dog, acknowledges that Pope is better.
Some people can hold their hands up and admit they got it wrong, it's a strength, yet some people see it as weakness. Those that do rarely change their mind.

Re: The Burnley Triumvirate
I'm not disagreeing with you. For the life of me I don't understand Pickford playing ahead of Pope and quite how the likes of Maguire gets games and Mings even gets in the England squad is way beyond my comprehension. Only last week on of Tarky's former Brentford team mates suggested it was because he played for Burnley.Colburn_Claret wrote: ↑Tue Jan 26, 2021 8:14 amNot saying you're wrong, but I've watched Maguire make cock up, after cock up, for united this last year and a half, it never affects his selection. Probably not because it's Burnley as a club, but the way we play which is built around Tarkowski and Mee.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Tue Jan 26, 2021 10:07 amI'm not disagreeing with you. Our system makes these two look absolutely brilliant.

Re: The Burnley Triumvirate
Remember when Garth Crooks said he couldn't pick Pope in his team of the season because he doesn't play for a big club?
When certain minds are made up they can never be changed and Southgate is of a similar mindset.

Re: The Burnley Triumvirate
From the day Southgate got the job he has shown to be a liar with all that was said by him in his press conference.
Gone were the days of picking players based on which club they were at and gone were the days of players being selected if not being selected by their club.
If Southgate feels he can't pick any player because the club he is at don't play the same formation as he wants, it probably says far more about him and his coaching staff than the player.
If Southgate is unsure on a players ability and doesn't still select the player to have a look at in training, it probably says more about him than the player.
