Jimmy Dunne being linked with loan to Preston
Jimmy Dunne being linked with loan to Preston
People have often said about loaning our players to a championship team but would this be the first U23 to go to such a high level since Jay Rod?

Interesting that he's been offered a new deal and hasn't signed it. I'd have thought that loaning him out is a no-brainer. If we intend to keep him then he needs the experience and if we don't he needs to be in the shop window if we want to get any money for him.

He was doing so well at Hearts, his career has stalled since. Probably should seek a permanent move.

That link surfaced last week - Nixon I think

Would like to see Mumbongo sent out for experience till the end of the season
Re: Jimmy Dunne being linked with loan to Preston
Thought Dunne looked pretty steady in his cameo on Sunday - albeit against dire opposition.
Re: Jimmy Dunne being linked with loan to Preston
Loan him for game time maybe but don’t sell him. I think the lad has a bright future with us. He is learning his trade from the best two in the league as well.

If Tarkowski won't sign a new contract then we need to replace him and what I have seen, Dunne isn't the man

Burnley can’t buy a ready made replacement for Tarkowski, they will have to develop them. Is Dunne at a level that can be developed? Possibly. Loan to the Championship is a very good, important development step.
Re: Jimmy Dunne being linked with loan to Preston
I’d imagine that whoever we intend to replace Tarkowski with, would need to be signed this week based on the time others have taken to integrate in the squad.
Perhaps this is the Nathan Collins link.

Jones, Worrall and now Collins - I’m sure that at least one will arrive this week.

Let's hope its not Jones
Re: Jimmy Dunne being linked with loan to Preston
That is a considerable change in position, as when the new owners signed you seemed quite confident that we would sign at least 1 in this window as sort of a statement? What has changed Tony, something you've heard or just a hunch?ClaretTony wrote: ↑Tue Jan 26, 2021 1:19 pmYou are more positive than I am regards incoming transfers

Just listening to the manager. The owners have said they will support him but he’s coming across as though nothing is likely to happen.

If Jimmy Dunne was only ever Kevin Long's replacement it would be worth keeping him in my opinion. Kevin Long isn't someone I want in the starting 11, but man has he been a useful member of the squad. So... while we have Kevin Long, a half season loan at Preston for Dunne to gain first team experience would be helpful for him in my opinion.

Re: Jimmy Dunne being linked with loan to Preston
I always feel sorry for Dyche when the transfer windows open, it must be so frustrating. If we enquire about a Prem player you can almost guarantee another Prem club also makes their interest known. If we're after a championship player they hike the price. Dyche has done well previously with some good deals but it certainly doesn't get any easier for him.
