Tuchel on touchline.
Apparently he has been given a dispensation by the FA to allow him to be on the touchline tonight rather than in quarantine. How on earth can the FA override Government policy?

Re: Tuchel on touchline.
We can get something on Sunday, Chelsea were poor tonight, and Tuchel might be wondering exactly what he's taken on.
Abraham and Mount have been amongst Chelsea's better performers this season, so why leave them on the bench, 80% of the ball, and yet they created little, indeed Wolves could even have nicked it in the 2nd half.

Wouldn’t be surprised if he’d been in the country 10 days already. Chelsea are that classless!

Do we have quarantine rules for people travelling to the UK for work reasons?
I wonder how he, and his coaching team, got their visas and work permits so quickly. I though new regs came in on 1st Jan?
I'm also wondering how Tuchel and Chelsea are allowed to re-write Elite Sport/Premier League covid protocols. Aren't there supposed to be self-isolation and separate bubbles?

Re: Tuchel on touchline.
This is another interesting matter that may concern Chelsea FC.
MODs: I hope this is an appropriate place to post this report.
Report in Times on Line: Freeze Roman Abramovich’s assets over Alexei Navalny attack, say MPs
George Grylls
Wednesday January 27 2021, 5.00pm, The Times
MPs have called on the government to freeze the assets of Roman Abramovich, who owns Chelsea football club, and Alisher Usmanov, a leading investor in Everton, over the poisoning and arrest of Alexei Navalny, the Russian opposition politician and activist.
Wendy Morton, a foreign office minister, said that the government was “considering all options” in response to demands from a number of MPs.
Last year the Foreign Office sanctioned six Russians who were identified as being complicit in the attempted murder of Mr Navalny.
Since then his associates have released a list of eight people they deem to be associated with the Kremlin and have demanded that western countries also freeze their assets.
Mr Usmanov, the UK’s seventh richest person, said to be worth £11.7 billion, and Mr Abramovich, the twelfth richest, with £10.2 billion, are on the list.
In a debate in the Commons Layla Moran, the Liberal Democrat MP for Oxford West & Abingdon, demanded assurances from ministers that anyone “no matter their wealth or position” would be considered for sanctions and whether minister Ms Morton was taking the allegations against the two billionaires “seriously”.
Dame Margaret Hodge, the Labour MP for Barking, said that the government should show its support for Mr Navalny “not by words but by actions”.
“Navalny himself has said that he wants the international community to use sanctions against complicit Russian kleptocrats who live outside Russia,” she said. “He has named Abramovich and Usmanov — both of whom have considerable wealth, property and links to English football clubs.”
Ms Morton did not rule out further steps, saying that the UK was “appalled” by the “politically motivated detention of Alexei Navalny on arbitrary charges”, adding: “We obviously are considering all options for further action. But as I have previously said, it would be inappropriate . . . for me to speculate on any future listings.”
In addition to Chelsea football club, Mr Abramovich owns a £30 million penthouse overlooking the Thames, and a large shareholding in the steel company Evraz.
Mr Usmanov has paid £30 million for the naming rights to Everton’s new stadium and is a significant investor in Airbnb, Twitter, Uber and Spotify. He made his fortune in steel and mining.
Ministers can issue travel bans and freeze the assets of individuals they believe to be involved in human rights abuses.

One of the commenters on ToL suggests that the sanctions could include requiring Chelsea to re-appointment Frank Lampard...

My guess is he will have been regularly tested in France.Claretincraven wrote: ↑Wed Jan 27, 2021 7:32 pmApparently he has been given a dispensation by the FA to allow him to be on the touchline tonight rather than in quarantine. How on earth can the FA override Government policy?

Re: Tuchel on touchline.
I am sure he will have been tested before he flew in, but he was out of work, having been sacked by PSG so not sure it will have been regularly. I understand he came in from Germany, his home country. I guess the fact he was working is a way around quarantine. It just seems odd that the FA would sanction it.

Well he's impressed me since he's rocked up at Chelsea.

Re: Tuchel on touchline.
Is the reason for the turnaround that Tuchel is a brilliant manager, or is the reason Lampard was an awful lot worse than we realized.

I'd say it was inexperience being the issue for Lampard.Nonayforever wrote: ↑Sat Apr 03, 2021 7:49 amIs the reason for the turnaround that Tuchel is a brilliant manager, or is the reason Lampard was an awful lot worse than we realized.
Being a world class player is of course very different to managing a group of them.
I think some predicted the job was handed to him before he was ready and that looks about right.

It could be worse.
Werner has played in a Chelsea loss at home to wba and a German loss at home to north Macedonia this week.
