Vydra

Post by cricketfieldclarets » Wed Jan 27, 2021 7:52 pm

Buzzing for him.

He didnt score. But his movement caused problems from minute one. Stretched the play. And gave us energy and them something to think about.

Well done that man.

Strangely I think he’s more effective off the bench.

Quality yet again from Vydra. Was everywhere and his first touch led to our second goal. Bravo Sir Vyds 👏

He does make things happen. I agree with 89 that he's more effective off the bench. Good to see him get 15 mins as well. I just hope SD is convinced that he's a good option and gets more mins 2nd half of the season.

Can’t start with Vydra .
We need to stay in game and he can’t hold the ball up.
Different when he comes off bench and opposition are getting tired and he has fresh legs.

Not scored in the last game and a bit but involved in 4 out of the 5 goals we have scored whilst he was on the pitch, Causes teams problems with pace ,touch and movement

Why not alongside JayRod? They got us three goals at Fulham.

The lad is class, and now he's putting the workrate in, he deserves to start.

Wonder if Sean will give him any credit? If so, it won't be much. Never is.

Chuffed to bits for him, he gets a lot of stick for missing chances or not scoring (I think his record is decent) but as I said after Sunday he’s a perfect strike partner for a bigger lad, he’s got a lot to offer us

Really pleased for him. It appears he's been very patient...far more patient that many other players would have been. Definitely offers us something different in stretching the opposition's defence.

No he is best off the bench. He did very well tonight. His determination and run for the third was great. Also just after he came on he held off the player superbly to lay off

I don't think he necessarily made us better. Cork was the difference. All through 2nd half we dominated the middle which allowed our wide players to get i to better positions. But for sure he was a bit more dynamic than Jay for the 15-20 he was on.

When Vydra came on they immediately sat deeper, as a result Mcneil received the ball in more advanced positions, Wood got into the box and even Pieters had the confidence to get forward and into the box

Terrific 20+ mins for Vydra today. His runs were superb and he played a part in both goals. I think he looks better when we're chasing a game in many ways as we throw bodies forward into attack, but I definitely wouldn't be averse to him starting alongside Wood now that we have an almost full squad to select from. It's a dilemma in many ways because he no doubt takes advantage of tiring legs so he may not be as effective from the start. We're in a fairly comfortable position to be able to experiment now though.

How much better do we look with Vyds on the pitch though? No aimless punts up front, just passing it forward is so much better to watch.

I do for sure. Vyds was excellent today and I'm another who thinks that he is best deployed as an impact sub in the last 30 minutes of games when defences are tiring and the change in style baffles them !

The main issue for me is that when Vydra is on the pitch the rest of the side seem to know there is no point in just playing hoofball
Jay slipped into the same mould as Wood and Barnes from the start of the game tonight - not blaming him, that's just the way Dyche prefers us to play
But, when Vydra comes on it's almost like the rest of the team know there is no point in the long ball tactic
He makes far more runs down the channels and the rest of the guys look to find him with balls much lower along the ground
Mings and Konsa were having a field day with the long, high punts through the middle to Wood and Jay but in the short space of time with Vyds, balls were being played down the lines where he could use his bit of pace to get to the ball and actually control it before the CB's came in from behind. He was then able to control the ball better and lay it off bringing others into the play
It's how it worked well on Sunday but you won't get anywhere near as much impact from Vyds if he starts with Wood or Barnes and we just play long ball up the middle

I’m a massive fan of Vydra and have said it for ages he should be starting. Think if he did Wood might get his mojo back. Wood is a very good striker but he’s just lost his way a bit and maybe a couple of games rest then hooking up with Vyds might just do him good.
