LOL at Wales.
England have been very poor throughout this tournament, though.
I'm not sure how any Englishman can laugh at Wales, after how badly England have performed during this 6 Nations.
And bear in mind Wales already have the Triple Crown under their belts, and could still yet claim the title, whereas England will finish 5th, and when did England last finish that low in a 6 Nations if ever.

I’m laughing at how they fell at the final hurdle. They’ll still probably win the Championship, but what they really wanted was the Grand Slam.
England will bounce back, make no mistake.

France v Wales was a good quality game & a very decent watch. Wales were the best team for a long period but came unstuck towards the end. Fair play to France for sticking at it even when down to 14 men and behind a team playing well.
England have been generally poor in this tournament, no more so than today. Gone backwards as a team this season and the discipline/organisation has been bad, they look like an outfit treading water whilst other teams (bar Italy) move on.
Eddi Jones has a contract up to the 2023 World Cup so, given the hard financial times for sport currently, he'll unfortunately probably be kept on.

Rugby Union is more hyped than PL football.
England have, under Eddie Jones, had an incredible bank of talent and have come up with virtually nothing to show for it.
But it is boring, and would winning something really change that?

I find watching England Rugby is similar to watching the Clarets. Immensely frustrating when we can be free flowing 1 minute and hoofball cack the next!

Well what can i say about the France v Wales game yesterday so end to end .
3 and a half minutes to go France down by 10 points and still manage to win , unreal stuff .
Make to bones about it France will more than step up on Friday and i see the Scots taking a real beating .

And Italy apart that's why England are bottom of the 5 Nations, too much kicking. Rugby has changed so much since I played it in the 70's, lack of competition in ruck's and maul's. IMO this just makes the plough forward and recycle game so much easier to play because it's hard to compete for posession as a defending team and inevitably gives a penalty to the attacking team.
The open passing free flowing rugby we used to see is far less these days because it's too easy to keep posession in the forwards. Even scrums are a waste of time these days because the ball is never put in straight, can't remember the last time I saw a scrum won against the head.
In fact it has become a bit like football. far too many penalties which are played for rather than trying to score an open goal or try.

For this week only, I find that picture on another thread of nicola sturgeon with the Scotland flags very attractive.

England finished 5th as recently as 2018, as incidentally did Wales last year. Rugby is a game of momentum, and fortunes can change quickly. Very happy Englishman that Wales failed at the death there. Grand Slams are hard to come by, and when you get the opportunity you must take them. England's Slam record intact still so we whooped it up really in the last five mins last night.

I’d have wanted Wales to win even being English. Watched the end of the France Wales match again and the French composure, tempo and passing accuracy when tired and with the pressure on after 80 minutes was something to behold.

And immediately after that show of scottish pride, on comes the news, with the embarrassing Alex salmond. Get him off. Gregor Townsend for first minister.

The most exciting six nations competition for years.
The triple crown.
Beating the English.
No grand slam, but fair enough, we didn't deserve that.

Well done Wales, you deserved it over the piece, and congrats to the Scots a 1st win in Paris this century, though what the French were thinking at the end by not kicking the ball out of play only they know.
A good 6 nations with plenty of thrills right until the death, and Italy apart a closely fought contest.

Finally getting a little more squad strength.

A good Championship this year but most matches involved less than 15 players per side, far too many penalties, yellow and red cards. The refs well and truly called the shots.

I'm not sure you can blame the refs, aren't they only implementing the new protocols from on high, and all the players should be aware by now that any tackle that is at head height will run the risk of a red card.

I am not blaming the refs but just commenting that 15 v 13/14 makes for an uneven game and mismatch.

Yes it can, mind you it hasn't impacted the games as much as you might have expected, and indeed both Ireland and Scotland were close to beating Wales even down to 14.
The bigger worry for me is how long can Italy justify their inclusion in this tournament, they've now lost over 30 straight games, and if anything they are becoming worse not better, and if you want to eliminate mismatches then surely they've got to be looked at, it's ruining the six nations as a spectacle when everyone knows prior to the game the opposition will run in a bucketful of tries against them.

See you all next year .

I like the way Rugby Union does the VAR.
Ref says what he wants checking. Gets fed the information. Makes sure the 3 of them are saying the same thing. Makes decision.
Players accept and move on.
Everyone knows what is happening, throughout, which adds to the interest and awareness.
