Re: MIGHTY CLARETS versus Brighton
A points better than nothing, but we really should have bagged all 3. Huge improvement 2nd half, and we certainly deserved something out of that 90 minutes.
Re: MIGHTY CLARETS versus Brighton
Whole team great.
Just the one barmy move by Tarkowski, to allow Dunk a free header.

Re: MIGHTY CLARETS versus Brighton
Very Poor first half but then a second half that was, for about 30 minutes, some of the best football I think we’ve played in our time in this division. Inventive, quick, exciting play involving the entire team. We could have easily scored two or three in that period.
I’ll happily take the point due to this being a must not lose game. I imagine Brighton feel much the same.

Re: MIGHTY CLARETS versus Brighton
I’m now convinced that we are told to play the first half within ourselves but don’t concede, that went wrong today. Second half we are all in and going for the win.
Fair result.
Great to see JBG much improved, allowing us to attack down both flanks.
Lowton MoM for me. Best I’ve ever seen him.

IMO we SHOULD have won bearing in mind our excellent second half domination, BUT after conceding first and where we're at right now, I'll take the point fair enough.

Why only 3 minutes added time - they had 2 second half injuries that took longer than that plus subs etc?

Re: MIGHTY CLARETS versus Brighton
I'd have taken a draw at half time, but we should have won.
Vydra is putting too much pressure on himself, he'd be a lot more lethal if he'd just relax.
I thought their keeper and Dunk had great games. Weren't we after Dunk at one time. You could see why.

A point is a point but they were truly awful . We created plenty and good to see “ Lowtinio” giving us real action on the right . Missing Taylor though and I’m suprised Jay wasn’t used against such poor opposition

Re: MIGHTY CLARETS versus Brighton
Brighton will definitely be the happier. Thought we deserved to win. Despite what most think, we were okay in the first and a little unlucky to go in one down. Second half performance deserved to take the points. Encouraging anyway, and if West Ham can do us a favour then it has been a good day.

Re: MIGHTY CLARETS versus Brighton
A point better than none but regretting the missed chances. Meantime Ivan Toney, who we were reportedly interested in scores two more for Brentford. 22 now. Missed opportunity there maybe.
Re: MIGHTY CLARETS versus Brighton
Much better second half.
JBG and McNeil showed up, Lowton carried on from the first half and benefited from JBGs improvement (some
Lovely play between the two of them).
Vydra offered something completely different and on another day, he’d have scored.
Chalk and cheese first have to second.

Re: MIGHTY CLARETS versus Brighton
Must be hard for him to relax when he gets a game, knowing he's not really afforded the same opportunities as the others. I think most would snatch at chances if you knew putting a foot wrong will probably result in you being dropped. He needs telling it's his shirt for 7-8 games and let's see if he can relax into it.Colburn_Claret wrote: ↑Sat Feb 06, 2021 4:59 pmI'd have taken a draw at half time, but we should have won.

I’ll be amazed if SD didn’t get his ticking off for complaining about our offside goal.
As I posted above I thought the block was the final touch making Vydra onside and it should have been the winner.

Sorry if I'm feeling a bit smug, but our front two, even with an unfit Barnes, created more chances today than we've seen for several weeks combined.
Long may they stay first choice.

Played some good stuff in second half.
Re: MIGHTY CLARETS versus Brighton
Ours to win in the second half. Lowton was outstanding for me, especially first half. Vydra caused them one or two problems, he's just short of a better quality forward along side him. Well done to the lads though, at half time I wasn't sure we'd be back into it.

I think they did but possibly weren’t concentrating on the last touch, just the fact he had come back on from behind the goal line.
You can only be offside from a forward pass by a team mate.

It will be unfortunate if we look back in May and say "2 points dropped today cost us everything" because we really should have won tbh, BUT most on here were happy with the point at 3.00 and even more were happy with it at 3.45, so let's just see it as one more step the bottom 3 have to climb.

Re: MIGHTY CLARETS versus Brighton
Both teams will be satisfied with the point TBH, and every point we gain is another point the bottom 3 have to make up, and the games are slowly running out. If West Ham win, then that'll be classed as a good point, and as long as we keep totting up the points we'll be hard to catch, given the wretched form of the present bottom 3, it's looking grim for West Brom & Sheff Utd, and in reality the only team that can really catch us is Fulham, who still have to play us twice, but I'd happily take our position over theirs right now.Dark Cloud wrote: ↑Sat Feb 06, 2021 5:33 pmIt will be unfortunate if we look back in May and say "2 points dropped today cost us everything" because we really should have won tbh, BUT most on here were happy with the point at 3.00 and even more were happy with it at 3.45, so let's just see it as one more step the bottom 3 have to climb.

We need to replicate that kind of attacking threat against all the teams in the lower half, including the bottom 3 and we'll be far too good for them, but we're so hard to predict right now and you never know what we're going to serve up.

Re: MIGHTY CLARETS versus Brighton
We really weren’t shocking in the first half. We were probably slightly the better side in a very even half. They scored a goal which we equally could have scored from a corner and I doubt anyone would have been complaining about the first half performance.mill hill claret wrote: ↑Sat Feb 06, 2021 5:37 pmI said we were shocking at half time ...so it's only fair I say we were brilliant in the second half
Second half we were a lot better but that came from the fact that were behind and decided to throw a lot more caution to the wind. All in all it was a very good 90 minutes and but for one poor piece of poor defending we would probably have gone on to deservedly win the game.

Re: MIGHTY CLARETS versus Brighton
We weren't good in the first half but neither were they. It was dour stuff and we were behind only because of an uncharacteristic error at a set piece. Second half, thought we were terrific and with any luck would have won it which, overall, we would have deserved. I didn't see that second half coming when I went to get my half time brew.mill hill claret wrote: ↑Sat Feb 06, 2021 5:37 pmI said we were shocking at half time ...so it's only fair I say we were brilliant in the second half
