Re: AI Scout
That's great, and shows that it could bear fruit. The fact that only 11 have made it through shows that it will be a thorough process, in my view, and is worth doing. It's not going to cost the earth, and could easily be another avenue for players to make it into the junior and / or U23 set-up.

Is it round 2 where they have to sing a song that they have written themselves ?

Re: AI Scout
I’m sceptical about is benefits to Burnley FC. Mainly from the view point that domestically the professional game / academies / centres of excellence in this country and their many many scouts pretty much cover all the young players of quality... Even your likes of Jamie Vardy, who’s name usually gets trawled out as coming late to the game, was at Sheff Wed when he was younger. I just don’t see domestically how a player good enough for Burnley FC is going to be found via this scouting route .
Internationally perhaps there maybe greater scope as there is perhaps the pull of the premier league and greater areas where a gem maybe hiding. Though I thought the new brexit rules were going to restrict the arrival of younger players .
Also technical ability in isolated or conditioned drills doesn’t always equate into an effective footballer in a full game.
Just my thoughts and I believe (Just from reading posts) there are some scouts, former scouts or certainly people with a bit more understanding of the domestic youth set up on the board. These will certainly have more idea than me.

Re: AI Scout
Sounds like a good signing. Am I right in thinking we got him from Stoke?

Re: AI Scout
The Brexit rules just mean that those from the EU have to meet the same criteria as those from outside the EU and we can't just have any old dross and play them ahead of English lads.

I must admit I share a few of these thoughts but I guess you have to give it a go and if it leads to nothing then oh well.KlyBfc wrote: ↑Fri Feb 12, 2021 10:22 amI’m sceptical about is benefits to Burnley FC. I’m not sure why but I expected there to be more than 11 people making it through round one. Maybe they didn’t get as many submissions as they expected?

I just suspected from a world wide scouting app we would have taken more than 11 people through to the next stage.
I might be wrong but isn’t it a three stage trial? by the time they make the cuts in stage two and three I am assuming only one or two might make it through to trials with academy.
Re: AI Scout
Scouts certainly don’t have all bases covered.
11 is a healthy amount. The process will be stringent, as it should be, and even if only one or two get through, it will be worth it.
This isn’t just about getting players for the first team, it’s also about making the academy self sufficient. If a few players are even sold for a nominal fee to lower league clubs, then it will be more than worth it.
I’m not sure why there should be any scepticism, to be honest. The club is using all avenues to identify young talent.
Edit- and you are not going to see the full benefit of AI during Covid and travel restrictions.

Wonder how many videos they got of overweight, middle aged blokes attempting to do kickups in their back garden?

Any that make it to the fifth round then put an half arsed disappointingly p*** poor performance , will get a contract.

Re: AI Scout
It's a different approach to the other systems that rely on data input from a dedicated source. Here the candidate enters the data via a series of tests/questions. This may well somewhere down the line give an opportunity to a person that hasn't had the benefit of playing for a popular team watched regularly by scouts, or plays in a sh*te team that gets tubbed 30 - 0 most weeks.
It is only part of what we are using anyway and won't be the main focus of recruitment.

Re: AI Scout
it's different and as mentioned we haven't dropped other mechanisms, so we have jut added another layer, which in my book must be good. With it being early days. I could see it growing if after the rounds they make lots of announcements about the App they landed a deal of whatever kind with BFC leading to increased interest and further benefits down the line, at least they are doing something and we can see that.
Re: AI Scout
Thank you BFC. I am really excited at reaching the final eleven.
I am so pleased that I kept my old boots so well with dubbing and they caught your eye for detail.

Re: AI Scout
Apparently one of the drills required is a 60 yard diagonal pass.Quite how you film that on a mobile I don't know but there you go.

At around the same time as investing in AI Scout ALK also invested in another London-based football technology firm Player LENS.
Any signs of they investment bearing fruit?

Re: AI Scout
If we get one decent signing from it then the top 6 will be all over it and normal transfer non parity will resume. We should make the most of it while we can.
Re: AI Scout
They were interviewed on BBC Business Breakfast yesterday morning around 5.20 am. Quite a few big clubs are using it.
He was saying there was a lad in India who filmed himself dribbling barefoot around rocks because he couldn't find any cones, or boots by the sounds of it.

Re: AI Scout
So as the big clubs cotton on to it we move down the pecking order again. Advantage lost to us as a club..perhaps not to AP who has a stake in it though.BenWickes wrote: ↑Wed Feb 17, 2021 7:38 amThey were interviewed on BBC Business Breakfast yesterday morning around 5.20 am.
