Re: Ben mee
I have know idea if he was concussed or not but all procedures carried out on him were normal protocols for a head and neck injury. The way his head twisted there could have been neck or spinal damage. Just thankful he has come through it apparently without serious damage.

I can’t see Mee playing this week if we were forced to do without Pope earlier in the season.

Very useful player who can adapt to more than one position.

If he was concussed or worse I doubt Dyche would play him the week after anyway.Jakubs Tash wrote: ↑Sat Feb 13, 2021 6:13 pmDyche clearly playing the system here. If had been a concussion sub it might have meant Mee missing matches this week.
Re Ben Mee; sensational. What a leader.
That said it’s Ben mee and I’m sure he would play with a broken neck!

Absolutely, I’ve no doubt Mee will be desperate to play. As will Dyche and all of us.cricketfieldclarets wrote: ↑Sat Feb 13, 2021 8:42 pmIf he was concussed or worse I doubt Dyche would play him the week after anyway.

However if it is a concussion it shouldn’t be a choice he has a say in.
Re: Ben mee
The manager has confirmed that it wasn't a concussion substitution, so fingers crossed he's OK for Wednesday.

Re: Ben mee
Just watched the match again. I hadn’t realised he had treatment whilst we were celebrating Matt’s goal. He indicated to the ref that it was an elbow caused it then walked off looking like Michael Palin with chips up his nose.
If they had spent more time playing football and less trying to rough us up it might have been a game.
Ben Mee and Irn Bru. Made from girders.

Re: Ben mee
That's why I suspect concussion. The modern protocol is that if the player is unable to tell you whether his neck is broken (ie. he's concussed) then he has to be strapped down as if it is broken. They always do spinal injury protocols for concussion.huw.Y.WattfromWare wrote: ↑Sat Feb 13, 2021 8:10 pmI have know idea if he was concussed or not but all procedures carried out on him were normal protocols for a head and neck injury. This also explains why, when you see a man being treated for possible spinal injury, it almost always isn't. It isn't even suspected. It's a precaution, an unnecessary one 9+ times out of 10, but insisted on because the damage caused by getting it wrong is so severe.

Re: Ben mee
I wanted us to start making subs to protect key players at the 60 minute mark - but of course would have potentially given them the upper hand.
I spent the rest of the match just waiting for one of their elbows, arms, shoulders or hands to injure one of our players. They were at it the minute the 2nd goal went in. Low and behold, got JUST what I was expecting.
Disgraceful team.

The Mee injury was an accidental collision, in any case.

..and maybe for his colleague Tarkowski too. There have been times when these two together have been quite sound, but Takowski's leadership and talking to Long will be important. All being well Mee back for WBA. A draw v Fulham will be a good result

At the end of last season, in the last six matches, Long partnered Tarkowski and we earned nine points.warksclaret wrote: ↑Mon Feb 15, 2021 4:57 pm..and maybe for his colleague Tarkowski too. Those matches were against Sheff U, West Ham, Liverpool (won every home game up to that point), Wolves, Norwich and Brighton.
Some very tricky opponents and he did very well.

Re: Ben mee
Hmmm. We could do with Mee in the crucial games here. We are much weaker without him. It forces Tarks to play o the left so we effectively have 2 weaker CBs and Longs distribution is way poorer so we give the ball away more
Re: Ben mee
Was the long sub for Ben a concussion sub? If so then are there not rules depicting minimum down time for concussion? I know when i played rugby i had to have a 10 day no match.

It's been stated on here (rightly or wrongly, I'm too depressed about this news to even check) that in the PL it's 6 days which means he SHOULD be ok for WBA unless he suffers in the meantime.

Re: Ben mee
Crikey! hark at all the panic merchants on here, yes obviously it's a big blow to lose our captain for such a crucial game, but FGS let's all get behind the players who will be playing, and that includes Kevin Long, he's shown alongside either Mee or Tarks he's solid enough against the likes of Fulham, and when we had our rocky spell at the start of the season we were fielding a cb partnership of Long/Dunne, that's vastly different to Long lining up alongside when of our mainstays.
Hope Ben Mee recovers quickly, and returns only when he's ready, his health is more important than anything.
Who'll take the armband? Tarks or Westwood at a guess.

Re: Ben mee
We’ll be fine whatever happens and much better to give Ben time to recover properly. We’ve taken 25 points from the last 17 games and in that run with the exception of a very unlucky loss at Leeds we’ve only lost to the teams in 1st, 2nd, 4th and 5th positions in the league
