Oliver on VAR

Post by NewClaret » Sun Feb 21, 2021 12:39 am

Vs Leeds, allows keeper to assault Ben in the area.

Vs WBA, allows a blatant handball.

Supposed to be the best ref in the league!!

With the Leeds one I really did expect him to ask Jones (the ref) to look at it. Pretty bad not giving the handball yesterday by Bartley, some of the angles that are available to var will show how clear it is. I'm convinced he didn't give it because they were down to 10 men. Still think it's a lot to do with "the boys club".

I think the only thing that saved him was the defender's arm was being pulled in the right direction away from the ball, admittedly only slightly. We've had a couple of those go for us this season.

He has been awful to us so often. We only won at CP cos they were so bad he couldn’t get involved.

Just watched MOTD. Lineker called it “a game of two arms”. How on earth can that not be a pen??? What I’d not realised is that Dean and the Lino’s view was blocked but it was blatant from the TV angles.

Infuriating that Oliver did not review that. And can’t believe Dyche didn’t call that out!!

The penalty incident isn’t even shown on the Sky highlights

How Oliver has deemed that to be not a handball is staggering

Oliver is poor.
He regularly has poor games when involved in refereeing us.

It's all about him on the field and wanting to make mates with the big stars, he thinks he's a big deal, but appears he has no b0llocks when on VAR.

Got to take into account jobs for the boys though, they all p1ss in the same pot and probably dont want to show up their colleagues, so only over turn the really bad and obvious ones.

I noticed that. Showed all the WBA chances and not the 2nd biggest moment in the game. Joke. Glad BBC called it out or it’d have been well forgotten.

The one at the end was also worth being included in the highlights, although was offside when I watched it back several times.

Dyche needs to start calling this out. He’s always very professional about reffing decisions but that’s 4pts Oliver has cost us now.

As Murphey called out, he’s supposed to be our best referee!!!!! :o

I would hope Dyche’s approach is a quiet word on the phone to Oliver to ask what he thought, as opposed to calling him out in the press which would achieve nothing.

That’s a fair point. If he does that, it’s probably a better strategy than to have a rant on camera.

I just sometimes think he needs to be more vocal about these injustices. Although to be fair, he made his thoughts clear about the Leeds decision.

Oliver and his general awfulness on VAR has cost us four points this year!
