Sharneyford to Todmorden............

Post by LordBob » Mon Mar 01, 2021 8:35 pm

I drove to Todmorden via Bacup on Friday expecting the usual collection of temporary traffic lights and half filled potholes so what a massive surprise to find the 3 mile stretch of road to be possibly the smoothest surface in the East Lancashire area I think it was the end of last September when I last travelled the road.

At one stage in February there were 3 yes Three sets of temporary traffic lights from the top of Weir down to Bammys butty shop in Bacup. Iv worked in Bacup 5 years and can't think of a whole month when there's been to temporary traffic lights over that way.

They let you in then obviously. The lights were to identity you. Strange things can happen at Deerplay you know.

Used to visit a pub at Sharneyford with a mate who lived in Tod. I lived in Bacup ( so long ago I can now admit that). One February, the temperature suddenly dropped during the time we were inside. The road in both directions was like a skating rink. He skidded of the road and almost wrote his car off and whilst I was driving back home, it started snowing. Not sure how I made it but it was certainly an interesting journey.
