Re: World Cup 2030

Re: World Cup 2030
I wouldn't go anywhere near it to be honest.
You pay millions of pounds to promote yourself, and they just give it to the country with the biggest backhanders.
If we haven't learnt anything from the last 2 attempts we've got our heads stuck up our arse.

Re: World Cup 2030
Exactly...
why spend Β£100m putting a bid together when you could spend Β£3m and the other 97 stuffing envelopes to guarantee it!
I'll lump my house on whatever third world oil rich country bids... Weekend in Saudi, anyone?

Re: World Cup 2030
China have been building up for this World cup for years - check out the number of Chinese sponsors at FIFA, UEFA and the other confederations, look at the Stadium building program specifically for football in China it is huge and very specifically aimed.
It also tells you a lot that one of the few countries in the world, England, that is capable of hosting the tournament without significant Infrastructure costs has to partner with other countries to try and get people to vote for them, I still think it is unlikely.

Re: World Cup 2030
I should also add that 2030 is the centenary of the world cup and there is a big move to get it back to South America with the final to be in Montevideo UruguayChester Perry wrote: βTue Mar 02, 2021 12:46 pmChina have been building up for this World cup for years - check out the number of Chinese sponsors at FIFA, UEFA and the other confederations, look at the Stadium building program specifically for football in China it is huge and very specifically aimed.

Re: World Cup 2030
I think that the North and South of Ireland should pull out as 5 areas going for this is too many 3 would have a better chance .

Re: World Cup 2030
China cannot bid for this World Cup - it can't be awarded to any AFC nation because the 2022 competition is in Qatar. China intend to bid for the 2034 World Cup.Chester Perry wrote: βTue Mar 02, 2021 12:46 pmChina have been building up for this World cup for years - check out the number of Chinese sponsors at FIFA, UEFA and the other confederations, look at the Stadium building program specifically for football in China it is huge and very specifically aimed.

It won't stop them trying or FIFA backing out of a situation if it is to their financial benefitdaveisaclaret wrote: βTue Mar 02, 2021 2:14 pmChina cannot bid for this World Cup - it can't be awarded to any AFC nation because the 2022 competition is in Qatar. Re: World Cup 2030
2030 World Cup will be awarded to a European, African or South American Nation(s).
UEFA have said in the past they would back a British bid for 2030 but saying something and actually doing it are two different things.
For the 100 year anniversary of the World Cup there will be a strong push to award this to Uruguay, Paraguay and Argentina and play the final in Montevideo.

Re: World Cup 2030
After the controversy over Russia and Qatar I imagine fifa might try to give it to a less dodgy country to prove its less dodgy. If thatβs the case we have a very good chance

Re: World Cup 2030
We'd be far better off investing the money that will be needed in this into grassroots facilities which are shockingly poor in this country, particularly in Lancashire, considering it's the national game.
As a grassroots coach I am biassed of course

Re: World Cup 2030
Have you seen what FIFA have been doing in the last 2 weeks alone - let Beckenbauer off the hook for bribery charges re the 2006 world cup and guaranteed the next President of African football - the elections for which are 2 weeks away
