I noticed Jordan went off injured, so surely Pope is the obvious replacement, mind you we're taking about GS here, so he'll probably select Henderson instead.
Re: Does Pickford's injury today mean Pope is a certain starter in the upcoming England matches.
I think he should be number one regardless of Pickfords injury, however GS doesn't rate him as number one .

After Henderson's mistake midweek , i presume Pope's now got the spot .

Henderson probably now he's starting games for United.

Any ideas what Pickford's injury was?

Looked like he stretched his side/hip area. Possibly trying to overstretch his t-rex arms

Would not surprise me if Southgate selected Henderson now he's played a couple of games for Manu.

I'm sure Nick Pope would rather be picked as No1, rather than a stand in due to injury.

I think it will be Henderson to though they may both get a game with Pickford out - from a squad perspective England need their other keepers to have had more international game experience

Disgusting how Southgate has that clown over Pope.
I know I'm biased but Pope is a miles better goalkeeper without doubt

We'll see what Sarfgate is really made of now. If he picks Henderson, who has only had a couple of games, (And one big cock-up.) it can only be because he plays for Man U.
Certainly the press will be pushing for Henderson, so it depends how much bottle Sarfgate has. Not much I suspect.

I don’t understand why people actually think Southgate would purposely jeopardise his own team and career by picking players based on who they play for.
He will pick who he thinks is best. Hopefully that’s Pope.
Burnley fans aren’t known for being impartial though. A thread yesterday had Kevin long better than every england defender bar maguire

The general consensus is Pope is the better keeper over Pickford when it comes to the important part of keeping the ball out of the net etc.DomBFC1882 wrote: ↑Sat Mar 13, 2021 8:45 pmDisgusting how Southgate has that clown over Pope.

Definitely be Henderson starting. Better keeper for the England system.

There would be blood on the board if Pope got injured playing for England.

Hasn’t Southgate previously said he wouldn’t pick players who arent regular starters for Theo clubs?Milltown1882 wrote: ↑Sat Mar 13, 2021 9:12 pmDefinitely be Henderson starting. Better keeper for the England system.
If Pickford isn’t fit, this could be Pope’s big chance - a face-saving way for Southgate to ditch Pickford

Henderson will probably get picked for no other reason than he plays for Man U.

Plays in a team that fits the system England play. Why do you think Konsa at Villa has jumped above Tarks in the pecking order. I don’t agree with it at all but it’s the reality of the situation.

I would say Pope is a likely starter if Pickford isn’t fit

He's played 5 games for a team that fits the system England play. For the last two seasons he was playing for Sheff Utd and taking a higher percentage of long goal kicks than anyone in the PL.Milltown1882 wrote: ↑Sat Mar 13, 2021 9:52 pmPlays in a team that fits the system England play. Pope will start the next match.

Not at all. I'm sure they'll manage to find someone from Tottenham or anybody elses under 21s instead of having to go for the very obvious England's genuine No. 1 from those permanently unfashionable, pesky northern upstarts Burnsley.

Re: Does Pickford's injury today mean Pope is a certain starter in the upcoming England matches.
I think many people think Pope should be number one for England but as a Claret I’m happy if he doesn’t play much because it means less chance of injury. Pope, Mee and Tarks are one of the best defensive triangles in English football in my opinion and the less chance of injury the better.
By the way Burnley should be moving heaven and earth to keep Tarks in the summer.

I must be the only one who selfishly doesn't want Pope to be England's number 1. The way the current number 1 is scrutinised by the press with every error magnified for club and country, might just hamper his form with us.
