Just one hour in their company would send you over the edge
I saw a clip on the tele the other day about a George Formby tribute act and just thought why FFS why would you do it, why would you bore the @rse of people pretending to be a dead singer who bashed out a tune on a ukulele an instrument that a competent chimp could master, some of them even have their teeth altered to look like him, how boring would an hour in their company be ? Would you slowly reach for a cosh, would you make an excuse and go. I nearly chose Rees Mogg.

Edited to confirm it wasn't a banjo but the annoyance is the same.

Whilst Formby was a buck toothed genius, there's no doubt that sharing half a bitter in a station waiting for a train with Allardyce would be enough for me to contemplate self harm.

Well this turned out nice again.
And did George Formby ever play a banjo?

Incidentally Stayingup if you are questioning if people are smart please have the good grace to spell and punctuate correctly.
"Not very smart you are you? A Banjo? When your going to post nonsense at least try to get it right."
Should be when are you; even you're wouldn't do in this instance.
"Haha yes. But the post really is nonesense to me. A Chimp.that can play a Banjo? Can you play one?.Or is a Chimp.smarter than you?"
Again more mistakes, Haha should be ha-ha according to some academics who undoubtedly teach you occasionally at school, capital T after the full stop please, no full stop required after the question mark,no full stop after chimp on both occasions it was used.
Here's me thinking I was inebriated.

I see your George Formby, but you could just play the bluto part and smash the ukelele against the wall less than a minute in.
I raise you Charlie Chaplin. He couldn't even talk and was ffwcing annoying.
Highly commended awards to Danny dyer, those women off birds of a fevvuh, the guy who does the adverts for sky (in character), that woman that has been inexplicably cast as miss Marple to the degree that the last four series have been unwatchable and the cast of any
musical.

Re: Just one hour in their company would send you over the edge
Tribute acts always strike me as a bit odd. Not only copying them musically but in appearance and action too. A challenge yes, but little creativity.
They range from clones of the likes of the Stones and Eagles to Tina Turner and Rod Stewart acts at the local Conservative club - I know someone who (used to) regularly go and watch the latter and enjoyed them. I've wondered if ever the real Rod Stewart went on stage pretending to be his tribute act and got booed off for being nothing like him!

The programme in which a disguised Adele took part in an Adele tribute contest is pretty interesting.

I wouldn't last five minutes in the company of that Rylan double-barrelled person. I would be an abject, screaming mess. The glottal stop was invented for him.

George Formby was cutting edge comedy at the time: the first person to have a song banned by the BBC!

That George could outwit censors time and time again, keep spirits up at home and those serving overseas and bring a smile to faces in despair with his risky lyrics and cheeky smile is reason enough for him to be celebrated for all eternity. Anyone who cannot see his genius is really missing serval points.

Re: Just one hour in their company would send you over the edge
Most certainly would not pass as modern comedy, but as mentioned by elwaclaret he did his bit for our boys in the forces and those back home. He is held in high regard by many and for good reason. I never took to him if I’m honest, but I can understand the attraction.
When it comes to classic black and white comedies I tend to reach for Stan and Ollie or Harold Lloyd. I don’t think I could bear a tribute act of either fwiw.

An hour would just about give him enough time to ask one question.
