This young fellow's very vocal with his early morning songs, looking for the right lady.
He's just spent a couple of weeks refurbishing a nesting box. He didn't pull last year so, better luck this time.

This was taken a year or two ago at this time of year. We don't see goldcrests too often - they are very shy.

Always loved their call.
Thought I heard on today, but it was a Starling showing off with a mimic.

They are up on the moors near Pendle, they are still red listed due to their massive decline. Hopefully with correct land management we'll see them to bounce back.We are getting quite a lot of Curlews around us in Long Preston (used to see a lot when I was a kid back in the 60's, but then they declined, they seem to be on the up again now ) up on the moor and down by the river Ribble ...

Just a few more from my walks last week, girl doing her yoga on the stepping stones that I don't think I've ever seen anyone use before last week, the bird feeding didn't seem bothered by my presence at all, walked right into the Downtown area and by the Aquarium, which has numerous rides and entertainment for the younger generation. And, no, I have no idea what they were feeding the bird but definitely didn't look appetizing to me, from a distance I thought it had been ill to be honest

Yesterday you could see them wriggling inside the jelly ... this afternoon they are outside ... just hope they haven't hatched too early...
But hey ho frogs are resilient and will start again if they have to, there are around 4 bucketfuls of spawn in the pond

Ours are now starting to spread out over the bottom of the pond even with the cold overnight still moving in the jelly too so looks like we will have a huge colony of tadpoles again this year... we have at least 4 hedgehogs too (and a mole(s) on the railway bank and the flower bed, hopefully he stays there )Dark Cloud wrote: ↑Sun Apr 04, 2021 9:17 amI saw the same on my walks yesterday and Friday. Re: Spring Photographs
We are out tomorrow going to Round Top TX, population circa 90 Obviously after we see BFC win so that I have a big smile on my face for the day, weather is very nice here, before it gets to hot for this sort of thing.
Will come back via different route, through other small Texas towns, La Grange (ZZ Top fame) or Giddings.
Weather going to be nice approx 2 hour drive, stop for lunch somewhere, hopefully get in some some antique shops for a look round, but mostly will be to look at the famous bluebonnets as depicted below and snap some good spring pictures to share.

I'm no photographer Steve and converting to black & white is something I rarely do but I thought it actually enhanced that pic. I didn't hang around, apart from the snow coming down it was bloody cold outside.

Re: Spring Photographs
It's just round the corner from where I live and it's a proper avenue with the tree lined grass verges on both sides between pavement and road. We haven't had the daffodils up here yet but those verges will be full of them soon.
Re: Spring Photographs
Looking forward to seeing the daffodils, one of, if not my favorite flower.
I agree it really is a good "picture postcard" type picture and took me back to my childhood, not that I ever lived on a street like that, but the whole scene in the dark/lamps, mist etc. plus whatever Steve said
