Dyche to Palace at the end of the season

Post by Newcastleclaret93 » Fri Apr 09, 2021 1:50 pm

Alex Crook on Talksport believes Dyche is on his way to Palace at the end of this season. He even goes as far as saying he believes Dyche is currently house hunting in London ahead of the move.

I know it’s only Talksport but thought it was worth posting.

Why would he need to house hunt? He did not bother when he came here, why move his family into the city?

It is entirely possible, but more likely Crook looking to make something for people to talk about on his show.

Potentially but I wouldn’t say it’s exactly a massive scoop it’s been on the cards for a while.

I just find it interesting how confident he was of the deal happening. Would certainly put a hole in Alks plans

I think the stumbling block for any club is offering Dyche a similar level of control that he gets here, would Palace offer him that... possibly, they could be one of the few clubs willing to bend to accommodate SD, but I think it would be strange given the public noises made by the club... and suggest if it happens SD does not believe he can take the club further, which suggests there is not the money to carry on the project in a timescale to his liking.

SD has always maintained it is an ongoing process of development, it seems from the outside that he is getting backing, and that the club is about to lurch forward again to the next level in the summer.... maybe not

‘Exciting times’ we’ll have to wait and see.

I've spoken to a dozen or so different Palace fans this year alone and every single one of them would have him at their club.

Whilst there are many on here who either don't rate, appreciate or want him, he is highly regarded by fans of other clubs.
They don't believe he's a dinosaur etc and they believe he'd be worth having and improve their clubs.

It's a different challenge at Palace to here and whilst I wouldn't want him to go, I'd understand it.

However I don't think he'll be going this summer.

With Alex Crook (whoever he is) knowing this is happening be interesting to know how much he got on at 8s.

I mean with this solid inside info there is no way he hasn't made a few quid.

I think a lot will depend on Burnley's transfer budget this summer. SD was relatively unknown when he came here, SD and Burnley have been good for each other, almost a perfect match. I do believe that he will have a certain amount of loyalty to the club and will stay if he can bring in new players, on the other hand if there is no money in the coffers then he will go if given the chance. Only time will tell.

We were led to believe that the last time there was a vacancy at Palace, Sean Dyche actually applied for the job. Never saw any credible source to support this claim and i am guessing this is a lazy journo rehash of an old story to generate clicks for a website or listeners and phone ins for a radio show.

one of the jobs I definitely felt would appeal.

That said Palace need a bigger playing overhaul than us. I think there is more to lose than gain by such a move.

Having said that I always felt some of the other jobs (West Ham, Villa, Everton) would be a good move for Dyche. But they dont appear to be available any time soon so his options will be more limited to the likes of Palace, Newcastle etc.

Personally think he MAY hold out to see how England do this summer if he is thinking of moving on

I mean that’s a very strange take. He’s a national news journalist that also works for Talksport. In terms of rumours this is a fairly reliable source.

be interesting to see what happens but in terms of rumours over the years I would put this on the more believeable side

Are Palace any better off financially then we are?, Zaha is almost certain to leave in the summer, and they have 12/13 players out of contract, so whoever inherits that gig will face a major rebuilding job from day 1, I do agree that if BFC don't at least give SD a reasonable chance of competing in the market then he may well decide the time is right for pastures new, although whether Palace is a step up is questionable, I honestly can't see what he'd achieve with them that he hasn't already achieved at Burnley, they are unlikely to break into the top 10, and unless they won a cup then European football isn't on the horizon for them anytime soon.

"I think it’ll be Sean Dyche. I think I mentioned a couple of weeks ago that he’d been spotted house-hunting in the London area. I think he’s had his flirtations with Palace before and I think he is aware now that he’s probably taken Burnley as far as he can."

Hell of a lot of "I think"s and no substance.

More chance of Dyche lighting his own farts on the town hall steps in front of national TV cameras than going to Palace.

Imo.

I think the only difference is potentially the amount palace can pay for a player? I think there record is around 30m. This would be a different ball game for Dyche, imagine what kind of squad he could build with players of that quality.

I am merely highlighting that in terms of rumours there are not many more reliable sources than a journalist that specialises in premier league football. You seem to dismiss in it’s entirety because he works for Talksport, I don’t understand how you can dismiss it completely.

He hasn't been spotted househunting in London. That's bilge, totally and utterly. After all, what does a football manager who is planning to move jobs in 3 months but wants to keep it quiet in the meantime, do? Does he (a) go to a London estate agent wearing a false beard and dark glasses (OK, maybe not the beard!) and start looking round houses? Or (b ) look at houses on the internet where no-one can see him do it?

It may not occur to Alex Crook, but I'm sure it occurs to Sean Dyche, that if he is planning to change jobs, it isn't impossible to commute and/or live in a hotel while looking for a house after the news is made public.

It’s not for the Palace job. A mutual friend of my other half and his wife has known the reason for the house hunt, and from what I’ve been told he’s not interested in the Palace job.

By this I take it you will think Alan Nixon is reliable then ?

Talksport is for shouty cockneys in black cabs getting irate over something they have no control over.

Darren Gough gives his expert view on football, they employ village idiots like Durham, Brazil and Goldstein off top of my head. Yeah I have no idea how i dismiss talksport

When he's potentially got up to a dozen players to replace, he won't be signing many players for £30 million of that you can be sure.

Fair points, actually. He may well be househunting - but I should have said he isn't house hunting specifically to find a new home for himself near his new job. He could be househunting for a second home investment opportunity (though I doubt that, not during the season) or a second home "weekend cottage", if his wife and family fancy a few days in London while he is working, or it could be for a family member, for example. Just not for moving house for his new job. I'm amazed that any journalist would think it was likely.

No need to worry there are plenty of football managers looking for a job sitting alongside Jeff Stelling on a Saturday afternoon.

Tim Sherwood anybody?

I now live very close to Kettering. Believe me Kettering to London is far easier than Kettering to Burnley. With the volatility of football management I would not see someone like SD uprooting his family in Kettering (and they would appear settled there) until he has been at Palace for a while, in the knowledge it was working out

Probably about as easy to Gawthorpe as it is to Palace training ground, but he wouldn’t move house for Burnley so there’s no logic in moving for Palace. Some people are so gullible though and it gets clicks...

They have a higher wage bill than us so it's a better move long term if he can keep them in the league. And I doubt he'd move without being offered some assurances on transfer budgets.

I think talksport have heard there’s an opening at the Palace, and got their wires crossed about it. I don’t think Her Maj is a Dyche type of player

Their highest ever league finish whilst in the PL is 10th.

Their higher wage bill isn't exactly providing good value for money.

You'd think the favourite for the Palace job is Eddie Howe considering he isn't going to Celtic and that move would appeal to both parties.

Well for my two pennies worth: I suppose it already been said upthread, but I just can't see Dyche wanting to scrimp and scrape along for another season. All will depend on the transfer kitty. I think he'll leave for another club if it's another repeat, or close to, what he's had to put up with for the last couple of seasons.

I am merely highlighting that in terms of rumours there are not many more reliable sources than a journalist that specialises in premier league football. You seem to dismiss in it’s entirety because he works for Talksport, I don’t understand how you can dismiss it completely.
When this doesn't happen because it is "only a rumour" will you come back on here and start a new thread saying "don't blame me I was only repeating a rumour from a Premier League specialist journalist"?

I've also heard a rumour that Sean Dyche is to be featured on next weeks Location, Location, Location with Kirstie Allsop and Phil Spencer.
Heard from a good source, friend's cousin who knows someone who used to clean the offices at Talksport, that they will be featured showing Dyche and Ian Woan around flats in the Croydon area.

What a coup for Channel 4!! (And of course Talksport)

Will Dyche do a better job there than Roy? Not sure

Will Dyche cope with some of the bling life characters at their club? Probably not.

Would Dyche survive some of the runs he has had at Burnley at Palace? Definitely not.

Will he make more money? Maybe, although 5m a year here is a lot.

Is Palace a club on the up? Hard to say that but the chairman might be willing to spend 100m to back a new manager?

It might be as high a job as Dyche will be offered though? His agent will have a gage of interest in his client.

I would be surprised - and disappointed - if Dyche left us for Palace. I would understand entirely if he left for a noticeably larger club, but this would be very reminiscent of the sidestep Judas made to go to Bolton.

Palace would be a great job for Eddie Howe, though. Especially with how much of a rebuilding job there is to do there.

Probably about as easy to Gawthorpe as it is to Palace training ground, but he wouldn’t move house for Burnley so there’s no logic in moving for Palace. Some people are so gullible though and it gets clicks...
If we’re talking training grounds, there is one in North London that’s only an hour and a half from his current home, just saying ;)

I’ve sat & watched the vid last week where Dyche said he is talking to the new owners & board about the future, his voice & whole demeanour make me think he’s very happy how the talks have gone. Would you take a chance & move to a club about the same size of Burnley who are going to have to rebuild massively where you could be out of a job in 6 months or stay at a club that have owners who want you & are going to let you carry on with you’re project? Dyche has said many times he really likes the building & business side of the football club, why move?

Is house hunting in London allowed or has he scant regard for the strict Covid protocols of the Premier League?

Lot of Palace players are out of contract at the end of this season, no new contracts offered. Sean would jump at the chance to re-live a situation like that!

Jamie O Hara, Darren Bent, Dean Ashton, Christ on a bike!! Real football insight there. No wonder we call it TalkSh**e. They talk plenty of it. Throw in Dwight Yorke, Mario Melchiot, Troy Deeney and Andros Townsend who are all regular contributors, and there you have it. UTTER ********.
