Global Partnerships Associate job
Clubs advertising a Global Partnerships Associate role on the official site if anyone’s in that line of work https://media-cdn.incrowdsports.com/310 ... 3e50fe.pdf. Looking for someone with 3-5 years experience in a similar role for 18k, clearly it’s not just on the pitch where we’re cheap as chips

They’re also asking for someone with sales and account management experience, experience operating at C-Suite level and foreign language desirable. That’s without even looking at any of the other points. Crazy low balling that salary.

Just seen this on Twitter, double that salary range would still be low.

That salary is an absolute insult. Either they need to up it significantly or they're likely to be somewhat disappointed in the calibre of the candidates.

Re: Global Partnerships Associate job
I have been waiting for this to appear since I saw it last night - my take was the wage was appallingly low considering they want someone with around 5 years of experience - just what is the bonus structure like.
It is good that we are building this side of things up - The person who has the role of head of that department has what appears to be very solid credentials, I am just not sure that this is how you go about supporting her. It maybe that one of our title sponsors SportFIVE are involved as they have huge global reach, though up to now it seems the long standing relationship has been focused primarily on the LED screens around the ground and the sales of advertising that features on them

Re: Global Partnerships Associate job
I saw this and thought the same as everyone else.
If you were experienced in the slightest at this, surely you would know your value.
Feels like an example of where someone has tried to follow a template of what goes into a job advert and not actually stood back and thought is that the person we are looking for and is that the market rate.
Working for a football club in the commercial dept may be attractive to some but it's still probably someway short of what you could earn doing a similar commercial role. Unless the Bonuses are brilliant that is, which I doubt as they would then at least put an OTE with it.

Re: Global Partnerships Associate job
I have to admit I was stunned when I saw the salaries on offer for the two roles but I seem to recall the salary on offer for the head of global partnerships was that high.
That role went to Ella Cummins who has worked for a number of football clubs but for the previous three years had been Commercial Sales Manager at Lancs County Cricket Club.

I suspect this will turn out to be a rather embarrassing typo. That is surely the figure for a very junior role used as a template and the figures have not been altered. It makes no sense.

It's either an error or a very, very heavily incentivised role. A lot of sales roles in the US have a relatively low basic wage but then great earning potential through bonuses. Potentially our owners are structuring the package in a similar way to what it would be in the US.

Re: Global Partnerships Associate job
Looks to me more like the job spec has been written incorrectly, particularly when it talks of reporting to a 'head of global partnerships'. It also doesn't mention any travel, yet expects the individual to 'Drive revenue for Burnley Football Club across key global brand categories'. I'd suggest that would be quite difficult to do over the phone from Burnley.
Take that part out and it looks suited to someone who will assist the head - I'd then suggest the salary is reasonable as I've just recruited someone to a similar position.
However,
If this is expected to be the person who actually brings home the bacon from our Global Partnerships, then BFC are quite drunk. They'll need to treble that salary to get someone worth their salt.

There we go then.
This is someone who is meant to support Emma. Whilst I think the requirements for 3-5 years experience and a degree education is optimistic, the salary seems quite reasonable.

Re: Global Partnerships Associate job
No offence Darthlaw but if you are offering a job with requirements of 3-5 years experience (degree qualified) then that salary is a joke. You will only attract the worst staff, as decent staff know they are worth a lot more than that.
Re: Global Partnerships Associate job
No HR professional would ask for 5 years experience due to age discrimination. Maybe 2 years in a role like this. Its a role that if stripped down is probably 32k to 40k max, but with bonus for achieving objectives.
Pipeline has been in use in the UK for over 20 years in sales and human resource development to indicate and assess potential talent coming through the organisation.
Doesn't bode well does it.

There is absolutely nothing reasonable about that salary when you look at the role, it’s easily a 30k job minimum. Ella isn’t going to be the only person generating and converting leads for the club if it’s going to work.

It’s an admin / assistant job with a fancy title (associate - lol) and a badly written spec.
They’re gonna be mopping up the admin, whilst Ella does the business.
£20k plus bonus is fine.

I see it all the time with employers copy/pasting a departmental job spec and forgetting to edit out certain parts which should be specific to a role.Newcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Thu Apr 15, 2021 10:39 pmSo either Burnley FC recruitment are incompetent or they are massively under paying.

It’s clear as day it’s incorrect when it says this person must ‘drive revenue from global partnerships’ then a few lines later they ‘support the global head of partnerships’. Driving the revenue is the top persons role, not someone who ‘supports’.
Incompetent is probably a strong word for what is essentially poor proof reading, in this case.

Re: Global Partnerships Associate job
This is either a ridiculously low wage for the job that's described; or the correct wage for an admin assistant with a ridiculously over-inflated job description. Either way, this doesn't reflect well on the club.

Re: Global Partnerships Associate job
All BFC jobs advertised have been woefully low pay for what is expected.
17K to work 9-5 + Matchdays. 28 days hol including BHols, Years of experience required, FOR A MANAGEMENT ROLE in the catering dept.
30 years ago maybe?
The club spends more than this on cosmetics at the training ground. (true)

Re: Global Partnerships Associate job
Surely it depends on the structure? A senior manager or indeed manager will ‘support’ a head of department. Support can mean much more than simply being a gopher.Darthlaw wrote: ↑Thu Apr 15, 2021 10:43 pmI see it all the time with employers copy/pasting a departmental job spec and forgetting to edit out certain parts which should be specific to a role.

I don’t know how many partnerships are in the ‘pipeline’ or in place but i wouldn’t be surprised if there was an expectation to drive revenue in lower roles.
The salary and description make for a very ambiguous advert which in itself gives a poor impression of the recruiter and / or employer.
Re: Global Partnerships Associate job
Maybe the club are only paying 18k to the head of recruitment? That could explain this

Re: Global Partnerships Associate job
The £18k - £22k seems to be just the basic salary. There will be a bonus structure in place which for all we know could be generous and could increase earnings considerably. Seems like pretty standard stuff in commercial sales opportunities. Perhaps the advert could have included an OTE figure though. Also important to distinguish between essential and desirable requirements - 3 to 5 years experience in a similar role is just desirable.
